Timing Chain replacement

Since I am doing my cooling system and replacing harmonic balancer I decided to do my timing chain.

Question, do I need to oil up the gears or chain when replacing (if so what oil/lube is recommended)?

When reinstalling the cover do I need to rtv the gasket or do it dry?

When reinstalling the harmonic balancer/timing chain seal does it need grease or rtv?

I usually pour/squirt engine break in oil over the chain. Really easy to do if you can turn the engine.

A thin coat of RTV keeps the gasket in place while reinstalling the cover.

Don't forget all the torque specs are in inch pounds.

Consider getting a alignment spacer.

Otherwise you have to partially put the pulley back on to center the crank seal...then take it off to finish installing the 10mm head, 1/4" bolts under the pulley.

Best crank installation tool is home made. 1/2-20 6" threaded rod, three nuts and a bearing... maybe a washer.

If you need the spacer and have access to a 3D printer the files are on makerworld. Most of the ones on ebay are also printed too. You can tell by the description or just can see the layer patterns.
