Unable to get proper lower / upper control arm adjustment for 4 inch lift

As per springs, you just have to find which RJ springs give you the lift you desire. It all depends on how much your rig weighs. RJ doesn’t know how much lift their springs will give your rig.

As the title suggests, I am having an issue getting proper adjustment in both my LCA and UCA's after installing my RockJock CE-9131RH2P rear springs. After setting my pinion angle, the upper arm(s) do not contain enough length to reach the UCA Mount at the frame side. This led me to move the rear axle forward, both to get the upper arms to work and to reduce my gas tank contact. After adjusting the lowers in so that the axle moves towards the transmission, It seems I do not have enough lower adjustment. The arms are at full shortened adjustment

As a side note, Spring measurements at ride height are below. I have a pretty severe rake towards the front with the rear sitting high.

Front (CE-9132FP)
16.5 or 4.5in lift

Rear(CE-9131RH2P)
13.5 or 5.5in lift

Any suggestions on what to try next? I was thinking of ordering longer shank JJ's for the uppers. However I am concerned with losing adjustment in the lowers.

If this sounds like an email I need to send to Core, I agree.

If it wasn't for your ride height issue, I'd recommend you get the longer shanks and run the LCAs fully sucked. It's a pretty quick task to shorten the lowers if you really needed to (we could probably knock it out in my garage in less than an hour if you got new bungs and brought em up here).

The real question is where you want the Jeep and how it's sitting on your planned shocks. If you planned your shocks on the shorter height, then just swap the springs.

Note, pulling the spring part numbers, RJ expects loaded spring height to be 15.75" front, 13.00" rear.

Let’s cross that bridge when we get there. Shortening these lowers should be simple as they are threaded steel tube without a bung. The other set of rear RJ Springs should be here tomorrow, I’m hoping that can correct the rake issue and assist with the arm length issue.

I took some measurements this evening on the arms.

My uppers max out at 15” so a longer JJ shank would help.

Measuring eye to eye I need at least 15 1/4 for the uppers.

Lowers are fully compressed at 15 3/4, though I think I can get some more with a thinner jamb nut.

As for the Rear TB that issue seems to be inherent to the MC rear tb relocation bracket. I may order the RJ just to try it.

RJ has some starting numbers in their instructions for their 4” spring and their CA’s. I’m pretty sure they start the rear uppers at 13.5” and lowers at 15 3/4”.
Maybe start over and look again? What did Core 4x4 have to say?

Still waiting for core to get back. They asked what my arm measurements were. I’ll take a look at those on RJ’s site. My pinion will be higher due to the TT than a non tucked TJ.

Did you ever get ahold of RJ?

CE-9131RH1p springs arrive this afternoon. Pinion angle looks much better as does rake. I did order the RJ TB relocation bracket. It’s needed, the MC one does not have enough cant to correct the misalignment.

Rear springs at load measure 12.75 so 4.75 in lift in the rear. Almost enough to add a small spacer up front to be perfectly level.

Need to set the arms now and put the bumpstops in. I have a feeling these will work much better.

So I reconfigured the rear arms and my pinion angle is now close and just need some minor tweaking. Upper arm is set at 14.75 and lowers are set at 15.75.

Lift is actually closer to 5 in the rear so I ordered some 1in aluminum spacers for the front. That should get it leveled but I may hold off until I order the 35s

I sent this info to Core and they asked for pictures. They are of the belief that the 5/8ths of JJ shank remaining is not enough. Personally I think after cranking down on the Jamb nut it should be okay but I am no expert. I have cycled the suspension a few times now, it all looks good to me Diff is clearing the Tank. Still a long way from complete as I still need to order shocks and tires. RJ bracket should be here next week and then I can get the Rear axle centered. I probably should pull the trigger on the RJ rear TB.

I did find some Savvy DBA short arms only a 4 hr drive away and for a good discounted price. Might need to just pull the trigger on those although Ideally I would like to go Mid arm.

I should have bought a damn LJ. The short wheel base with the TT and the drive angles is a challenge to get correct.
