Even up here in MI, the leather seats in my last car guaranteed you a case of swamp ass.

Some type of marine grade cloth I'd jump all over. I plan on redoing all the foam and upholstery on my seats next year.

Just so i understand, if this concept becomes a reality our existing seats have nothing to do with this correct? This is an entirely new set of seats. We just remove our existing seats and bolt in the new ones? I would absolutely be interesting if these were cloth of some kind but vinyl or leather is a hard pass.

The pics look really nice but I can't see putting anything other than cloth into a jeep that sees a ton of sun. But I'm just one voice, and as a guy who routinely uses Autozone parts, I'm probably far too cheap to spend any money on this project anyway.

I’m exploring the possibility of having a limited run of custom seats made for the Jeep TJ/LJ community. The goal would be to offer a high-quality design inspired by modern Rubicon-style seats while keeping the price reasonable.

This is only an interest survey at this stage—no deposits or payments are being collected. Before contacting manufacturers for final quotes, I’d like to learn what options the community actually wants. If there's enough interest in cloth or other materials, we can look into that as well.

*Update: These will be made out of marine-grade vinyl, not leather.

I’ve been looking for new seats off and on for years, they are lower priority right now but will be done at some stage. I am definitely on team cloth-only

You would remove the cloth and put in the new upholstery. Please see the proof of concept photos. I am trying to talk to different vendors about working with me to find a fair asking price to create these gaged on the interest in these posts

The ones I have are made out of marine grade vinyl, they are really nice. not overly hot in the summer.

Vinyl exposed to the Arizona sun gets blisteringly hot. Even in the winter. Been dealing with that on my classic convertible vinyl seats for 20+ years here in Phoenix. 5 minute exposure to the sun is all it takes.

Experiences with vinyl seats is subjective. The classic critical voice cries about the material getting too hot or causing swamp ass, but that's never been an issue for me.

I've been sitting in my Arizona TJ with Vinyl PRP seats for five years without worry, and it's parked outside with half doors and no windows 99% of the time. Non-scheduled applications of Aero 303 has kept the black vinyl in good shape.

The only reason I'd be interested transferring the PRP seats to the LJ and running cloth in the TJ is because my vinyl seats act as a better insulator that results in the seat heaters taking longer to transmit heat to my bottom. They get plenty hot eventually, but sometimes I get to a local destination before the heaters have a chance to do enough to matter. Although, upgrading the 18 gauge wiring to 12 gauge helped improve that issue by a decent amount. I also don't know how the thickness of your section compares to my seats, so you might not have the same issue.

My skinny ass doesn't take long to get swampy. For me, it comes down to breathability. I don't use my bottom neoprene seat cover because it gets hot, sweaty and uncomfortable driving more than 15 mins or so. Same reason I don't like leather couches or recliners.
