Tow dolly setup for 98 TJ?

i have a 98tj se that i have to tow for labor about 35 minutes away. i only have access to a tow dolly and im by myself. can this be done or do i need to remove driveshafts etc...? i have no tools as to the reason im towing it to a shop for help. will a tow dolly work?

What size lift and tires do you have. That will be the limiting factor. Jeeps are more then light enough to tow on a tow dolly. I would not go cross country. But i would not hesitate to tow it across town.
Assuming that you have a 1/2 ton or higher truck.

16 tundra crew max so no issue there. 4''currie lift on 33s. only driving back roads 30 minutes for labor. problem im having is no indication of trans case when i shift into neutral. only 4wd lights up on dash...

The 33in tires might give you problems loading on the dollie. You will have to feel that one out.
But as far as the tow goes its an easy pull.
I have flat towed my 97 sport 4.0l with a 1/2 ton ford. No problem at all. Just take it easy and remember that you wont stop on a dime.

Measure your wheels side to side and measure the dolly. It it fits it will work. Its you question it don't tow and come up with a better option.
Other options include but not limited too

1. if you have towing coverage on your insurance or AAA have them tow it for free.
2. tow bars can be bought reasonably priced for most bumpers. (Example) smitty built tow bar for their bumpers run around 150. (Might find a universal cheap at Walmart)
3. Beg, borrow, or steal a flat trailer.

I would not have a problem useing one if i knew it would fit. I just dont know. There are many manufacturers of tow dollys. And dont want to give you bad advice that might hurt you or someone else. So if it fits use it. If not i wanted to give you other options.

jeep fits and i can secure safely to the dolly with additional ratchet straps. what configuration does the jeep need to be in once installed on tow dolly? gear, neutral etc

In neutral. Dont forget about the E brake.(off) You can leave it in 2hi. Go slow and be safe.

I believe putting the transfer case in neutral will separate the front and rear. I know on the YJ it didn't, when I rebuilt my transfer case the rooster had an extra notch cut out that the YJ didn't, that completely separated the front and rear. I believe it is save to tow with the transfer case shifted into neutral on a TJ.

copy. was able to throw it in 2hi and neutral and towed a short distance with no issues
