My Jeep just doesn't want to moving at all to go into 4-lo, grinds . Fine when idling and neutral , am I doing it right ?

It seems to like nudge forward then clutch /brake and neutral occasionally to line em up.

Cool everything works great it just doesn't seem to be moving at all going into 4 low which makes sense in my mind .

Something in the manual mentioned rolling and I think Chris brought it up man just doesn't seem to be liking it.

Dumb question, but did tj’s come with 2-low? Wondering because mine doesn’t have it. Is it aftermarket?

No it’s cool but I swear I’ve seen another thread on here about 2 low. Does anyone know if it’s actually a thing or maybe just another typo?

I'd say if someone has selective lockers and bypasses the 4-lo Rubicon system, they could lock the rear diff and it would be similar , or someone with manual locking hubs could go into 4-low and leave the front hubs disengaged.

There are a few ways to get 2-low:
Atlas Transfer case
Rubicrawler reduction box
4-low with manual hubs unlocked in the front (though that seems like a bad idea to me).

I'm sure there are more ways that I'm not thinking of (more like more types of transfer cases. Maybe marlin crawler or trail worthy fab). No Jeep has ever come with 2-low, unless you count factory manual locking hubs.

In terms of shifting to 4-low, how fast are you going when you're trying to shift?

I just did some research and it looks like you can buy a kit for it. Why would anyone need 2 low anyway?

Seems I can't hardly be crawling , generally works great sitting , has the savvy , occasionally doesn't want to move, a little nudge with clutch and it goes right in .

Do you have it in gear while crawling? I always throw it in neutral or put the clutch in before I shift it. Never tried it with it in gear. You have to be barely moving for it to go in normally.

Cool,I just want to know the what to do and what to avoid .

4lo needs a slow roll while in neutral. That's all there is to it.

I wonder why mine doesn't seem to like it does better sitting still.

Consistently? Shifting into 4lo at a standstill can only happen if everything is lined up. There has nothing special about your transfer case.

Does your Jeep have a body lift on it? Mine has a 2 inch body lift and I can’t shift into 4low. It just grinds terribly.

Do you still have the shifter linkage or has it been changed to a cable? I would ditch that body lift asap. It is going to cause some problems being that high.

It still has the linkage. No plans on removing the BL because I’m starting college and I’m almost a broke college student. I have yet to take it off-roading anyway but at some point I would like to.

If you don't want to ditch the body lift, you're going to have to deal with the problems that go with a body lift that high. The highest body lift that I've seen recommended is an inch or an inch and a quarter. Two inches is getting pretty tall. I'd bet your linkage is causing a problem considering it is all out of whack with that body lift. Try to manually shift the transfer case and see if it works. If that works, then you've narrowed it down to the linkage and you'll have two options: remove the body lift or get a savvy cable shifter (or another companies cable shifter). If you can't manually shift it, then you might have bigger problems. Pretty uncommon for a transfer case to break internally in a way that means you can't shift into 4-low, so I'd just bet it is your shifter not working because of the body lift.
