Parking brake only connected on one side

So I swapped rear axle and the replacement axle had no brakes at all. Bought new drums/shoes/spring kit. And transferred the needed pieces from old brakes.

I was only able to attach the metal plate to the end of the parking brake cable on the drivers side, i don’t know how I got it in but I could not physically get it on the passengers side. So I gave in and put everything else back together hoping I can make do until I can take it to a shop.

Ok to drive like this?

You should be fine. Just don't rely on the parking brake (put it in gear when you park), as only one side is going to work.

Thanks. That was my assumption, but wasn’t sure if not having the plate behind the shoe would cause issues or not.

I'm a little confused sounded like you couldn't get the cable into the plate. This sounds like there is no plate and therefore no shoes.

Did the cable housing retainer “snap” into the backing plate? Did you attach the cable end to the parking brake shoe lever?
