I don’t think it will be a huge success.

Why?

They never are. People don’t want a Jeep that looks like a truck or a truck that looks like a Jeep.

They ‘ll sell some , but it won’t touch the Jk/jl success.

Convertible trucks are generally an oddity.

I hate the way it looks... just hate it. But, millennials will eat it up.
I agree, it seems very slapped together. Not to mention it's massive. The aftermarket kits look 100% better than what they came out with.

This confuses me. Why don’t you like it?

I mean design wise. It’s exactly how a modern Jeep truck should look. The name is wrong. But the design is correct.

I hate the fact that it looks like a Wrangler with a truck bed on it... which doesn't look right to me. It looks like a stupidly long Jeep Wrangler... haha.

This is obviously just my opinion, but I cringe every time I see it. I'd take a Tacoma any day over it personally ;)

I just can't wrap my head around a Wrangler that is that long... it looks so disproportionate to me!

I think it'll sell pretty well. They've made it different enough that it won't poach too much into JLU sales, but different enough to appeal to a good segment of casual truck buyers who want a bit of everything. In the PNW, like @ElectricWizard says, it'll be a hit.

You don't like the old CJ8 scramblers either? Or you hate that this new one is a 4 door and looks oversized?

The old CJ8s are a really good size imo, but it's just not possible to expect anyone to make a truck that size today. I wish they would, but we'll never see it since most of the truck buyers want a big badass truck.

I don’t mind the old ones. It’s the new ones I don’t like.

To this day my favorite jeep is still the Brute; AEVs take on a 2 door tj truck. Then AEV made the Brute double cab; the family truck. Now the JL has basically Dave Harriton’s same exact design for the JL. Everybody knew it would happen eventually and it will be the highest selling jeep product probably ever made. It’s gonna fly off the lots. There will be more sport models than rubicons sold, but we will see them everywhere no doubt in my mind. I like it, but the price is going to hurt.

We’ll see, but I think it will sell very well. Folks love pickup trucks in America, and many also love Jeeps. A fun 4 door Jeep pickup with off-road prowess and the top can come off? It should be a hit. Most folks I know really like it. Purists didn’t like the 4 door Wrangler either, but look what happened to sales and it’s current resale value.

I kind of like it, it’s different than all the previous Jeep pickups as it’s the only one with a removable top and separate bed. Not sure how well it will sell cause I’m sure it will be over priced to comparable pickups. They should have made a long wheelbase 2door.

P.S. it is a different climate now from when Jeep did this before. Trucks and SUV’s weren’t as mainstream as they are now. Of 17 million vehicles sold in 2017, 40% were SUV’s and 16% were pickup trucks. Overall, there was a 1.7% decline in auto sales, but truck sales still increased in 2017.

So I’m assuming these figures are correct. The Gladiator is almost the same length as the Tacoma. Do ppl complain how long the Tacoma is?

I friggin love it! After watching a bunch of videos on YouTube, and seeing all its features, I think Jeep did a great job with it. I'm not looking at it as a Jeep with a truck bed though, but a well optioned mid-size truck with removable doors and top. Who wouldn't want an open air truck that can tow 7,600lbs?
