hood vents with brute force intake

Hey guys, wondering if anyone has any input on what effect adding hood vents will be on my brute force cold air intake?
As you know they have a separation shield to isolate the actual filter. However I am pretty sure it still draws from the engine compartment. So if I add the hood vents, will it effect the performance/function? Any thoughts?

No, it won't impact your CAI because your CAI has no impact on your engine.

Hood vents will lower your under hood temperature though, which will help extend the life of your components.

Thanks, I was more worried that the intake will take away from the efficiency of the hood vent. By sucking that air kinda keeping in what I am trying to vent out..

X2. Despite its cool "Brute Force" name some marketing genius dreamed up, it doesn't force more air into the engine... it can't and it won't. About the only thing most CAI products do let more of into the engine is dirt through their typically shitty air filters.

And while hood louvers look cool and can slightly reduce underhood temperatures, they won't cause the engine to run cooler.

But needless to say you answered my question. The hood vents will not effect the CAI. I should ask you this Jerry, I have not cut the holes for the vents, are you suggesting you wouldn't do it?

I personally wouldn't since I don't feel there's a need or benefit to the louvers. I wheel out in the desert where it gets HOT and if we needed hood louvers to keep our engines cool we'd all be running them. I think I've seen just one Jeep in my many past Jeep groups I've wheeled with that had hood louvers and he was trying to convince everyone our engines would overheat without them.

Tough decision for me I guess, I have been told that grills will cool the engine 20° I think that as long as there is no downside to installing the vents I may proceed with the operation

They may cool the ambient under hood temperature by twenty degrees, but they will have no impact on the engine temperature.

Yes I realize that, it will keep other components cooler which is a plus. I don't know? It's almost more of a hassle to send stuff back than it is to install it

I sold the Volant CAI that was on my jeep when I bought it for 200 bucks, and got a stock air box and AC Delco element for about 40. They was not change in performance , and the AC element is about the best there is.

X2 to this. I don't think there's a need to cool the stock engine anymore than the factory cooling system does.

Ok guys that's two aftermarket parts debunked. So let me change the question a bit.. What has been your most beneficial can't live without upgrade?

Well it's not going to hurt anything, so by all means install it! I've had heat soak issues on mine even after installing the insulator per the TSB. I've contemplated putting on the Poison Spyder louvers just to try to get some of the hot air out. Unfortunately, my wife vetoed the idea because she thinks they are ugly.

The most beneficial mod, and often overlooked is proper gearing for larger diameter tires. You get some of your power back, some mileage , and gives the driveline a fighting chance.

I actually purchased two of the large run cool vents. The look pretty nice on the TJ I gave seen them on.. they don't use the whole hood and contour pretty nice. If I decide to install them I will do before and after pics

Agreed andy, mine will be fixed with the 4.88 next Thursday, and I am eager to see the difference you guys say it will make. Mostly excited to show the mechanic the difference to help his knowledge go up a bit about TJ vehicle. May help the next customer and the mechanic from this hassle.

And realistically, you don't want to lower your engine temperature anyways. The engine and ECM were designed to operate within a certain temperature range. By lowering your engine temperature too much you can adversely affect the performance if your engine.
