Is the hole for the radio 1 or 2 DIN spacing? Or is it just the big bezel that goes around everything in that section of the dash? Or a combination of both? thinking about upgrading to an android car radio head and they are mostly 2 DIN size. trying to figure if it will work on my 04 TJ.
Thanks.

It's a 1.5 DIN. Most aftermarket radios are 1 DIN so they usually include a 1.5 to 1 DIN adapter.

Most radios come with a DIN sheet metal frame but you still need to purchase a specific adapter for your make of vehicle. They do usually allow for both the pop out DIN frame (with the release tools) or screwing the radio direct to the adapter. I've done a TJ and a Dodge pickup recently and most of these plastic adapters aren't very sturdy. The first gravel road with a little washboard had my new radio shaking like crazy. Had to glue rubber belting onto the console at the bottom of the opening under the radio to support the radio bottom. Now it's solid as a rock. Without this mod, the two 10mm bolts just don't secure the adapter well enough. If your 2001+ TJ still has the factory rear support bar, it's usually difficult to mickey-duck it to the back of your new radio as the dimensions have changed. And accessing that rear 10mm nut through the glove opening is a pain.
