Mopar water pump gasket question

Was about to put on my new Mopar water pump and realized that the gasket it came with had an extra hole. Is this normal? The old one was unrecognizable so I don’t know if it had it or not. The gasket has a small bead of something on one side and I honestly thought that side would have gone towards the block but it doesn’t fit that way. Checked Felpro gasket online and it too has the extra hole but some cheapos I looked up don’t have it. Just want to be sure before bolting it down. Thanks.

Probably fits multiple water pumps to reduce costs.

Yeah. Believe WJ uses the same one. Maybe the V8 block has an extra hole.
