Do you daily drive your TJ / LJ: Why or why not?

Been DD'ing mine 130 miles round trip a day 5 days a week to work and on weekends. Figure that way I could keep the inside of tank nice and clean by continuously flushing it out with new gas. Have driven it everyday for past couple months since I picked it up and CTS has sat in driveway.

One of my jobs is about 70 miles away and I have to go there twice a week. If it is nice and sunny, I take the Jeep with the top down. Most of the trip is on a 4 lane 55 mile an hour road, so kind of perfect for a cruise. The cons are it isn't quick if you need to pass or go up a huge grade and the fuel economy sucks. Oh and it is loud, so no mobile phone use during the drive. Um, not sure the no phone is a negative actually.

Definitely a plus Keeps work/wife and kids at bay for at least 2.5-3hrs a day. "What honey it's noisy and I can't hear you." "Yeah babe you know the Jeeps noisy, I'll see you in a little while"

Honestly, it is so loud there is no way at highway speeds I could talk on the phone. The last two days I really had a great drive down to my other job. It is in the steep hills of PA. On the way back I saw a semi-truck that literally caught fire because his rear brakes got so hot from the hill I drive up and down to this job. It is pretty damn steep and long and 3-5 degrees cooler when you reach the top. It is just great driving the Jeep up there and enjoying the views. Love it. Having this Jeep changes everything. Makes my drive so much more fun. The sound system helps a lot. It is very strong with great clarity. Love that too.

Yeah, It is usually hooked up bluetooth thru stereo and I actually hear them fine it's just they can't hear me. Do you think maybe it's because I leave the phone clipped on dash and the mic is 3 ft away from my mouth with all the wind whistling blowing in between the 2 ??? Gotta stay legal and hands free, MD PoPo says so!! VA not as much yet.

Guess as long as they never see this I'll be fine and have quiet/nice noisy rides.

I no longer daily the LJ. I retired it to recreational duty after I put a 100k miles on it. Money saved in gas has gone back into it in the form of fabrication and parts.

One of the pros in my opinion. Keep it simple and just enjoy the drive in the Jeep.

But def a con in the event you have a passenger.

I daily drove my tj for a while until I got my little ranger. When I got my secondary vehicle it was very nice being able to leave the tj in the garage topless and doorless and pull it out on nice perfect weather days and not having to go through the teardown phase. If that’s possible to do I highly recommend jus leaving the jeep naked in the garage and getting something cheap to daily. Jeep is supposed to be topless and doorless anyway

She'll be windowless this week but not doorless...yet, still haven't taken the time to try and beat the doors off. Hinges are def rusty inside cause they won't even budge up at all, hammer block of wood and swinging them does nothing on vertical movement. And its supposed to be pretty warm this week so safari stays on as sitting in traffic under a beating sun is not what I call enjoyable not even with a breeze. But shade and a breeze is good.

Yea my second cheaper vehicle is a Jeep. Its just one generation behind the TJ. Longer trips around the SouthEast, I use a little cheap 4 cylinder 4 door sedan.

Daily Driver here.
I live on one of the top 5 hilliest cities in America, and it snows. I need my wrangler to power through these roads. Luckily my work commute is 2 miles total. My yearly mileage is very low!

I work at home so I just drive it a few times a week for this and that. I love driving it, but I'm not sure I'd love a long commute 5 days a week lol. But that probably would go for any vehicle.

I DD both Tjs, alternate drive them so miles don't pile up. The only con is gas mileage

I don’t daily mine, but just like @IPerkWVU I drive mine on fridays and weekends....if the weather is nice, especially. Prior to buying a ‘commuter’, I drove my Jeep 60 plus miles for work, Mon through Fri for 2 years. Wish I had the commuter back then, because the TJ would only be somewhere @ 140k miles vs the almost 200k.

If it werent for the snow, and my Job being so distant from home, I’d daily mine.

Nope but use it often.... I’ve got 3 kids and a long commute... but on days when I know I don’t have to chauffeur anyone I use it for sure... I love the rough ride, the noise and manual... my other cars don’t give the same experience.

Daily drive and finding that the more I upgrade the creature comforts in the TJ the more I wander out of the front door and decide to take it.
The fuel costs are null and void compared to the cost of purchasing another vehicle.

I hardly ever drive my LJR. I bought it June 9th and I've only put two tanks of gas through it. It drives great, and I really enjoy it. It's nice and smooth on the highway, and super fun, but I have other vehicles I drive more often. It's only got 47,200 or so miles on it, so I think I might just keep the milage low so that hopefully I can recoup some of what I paid when I sell it.
