Is it okay to put 100% pure gas in my TJ?

On the other hand, DO NOT put ethanol in any sort of power equipment (i.e. a lawn mower) and leave it there for a long period of time. Watch what happens ;)
That's the gospel truth. The orifices in small carbs are so small , and it goes bad so fast .

Fuel injection keeps it under pressure , which seems to stabilize it.

I ride dirt bikes , throw some in one and let it sit a few weeks and you have a clogged pilot jet at minimum,if it's a 4 stroke with an accelerator pump , it gets real bad.

Jeeps/4.0's aren't that finicky . I can tell a difference with premium non ethanol , but I'm pretty sure mine runs better after I wax it too, so that will tell you how far out there I am some days.

Normal people are just the ones you don't know very well

What is it about the higher octane that would make yours run better?

It may not be the octane.

It may be the non ethanol,or just the brand ...I'd say I get 1-2 miles per gallon better , and no stuttering .

Also , someone may have messed with the engine , the timing or something before I got it .

I'll play with 87 ethanol free more , it runs well on that .

I've had some bad experiences just getting any gas wherever in it.

I'll never get on here and get into the octane argument like I've seen happen.

It's a fair question if we are discussing a stock 4.0.
Sure , I just don't know if it's stock . I just know the results I'm getting with #93 non ethanol .

It took me a while to convince myself... I was bouncing around getting so many different types of fuel... Because I know from the ones I've had before these things aren't typically very picky.

I realize octane is more important in the realm of high-compression and stopping predetonation

Add me to the list of those with better fuel economy running 91 ethanol free vs 87 with ethanol. Same 9 mile commute to work, 13.5 mpg vs 10.6.
FWiW, I routinely get 13-17 mpg with regular whatever.

That's fairly typical ...the 4.0 is an odd animal . It doesn't care about how it's treated , what it's fed , or whatever it seems .

I love it in some ways ,it's tough and lasts . At the same time I wish it had more power for it's displacement

30% increase in mpg is what you would expect switching from E85 to 100% gas. E10 has 96.7% of the energy of 100% gasoline. Mpg should only vary 5% or less. Power increase or decrease with efi should not be measurable. It's all about the BTUs.

Both cost the same here.

I was getting 10% mpg less difference fairly consistently with my LJ on ethanol. It also felt more sluggish on ethonol. I never noticed a benefit from premium VS low grade. That's over the course of years I felt that way but I don't have actual numbers to back up my feelings.

I just threw in a new fuel pump in my 2005 a couple days ago and noticed the Bosch documentation says the pump is good up to E20. Just like we went through the E5 to E10 mandate, all automobiles, power equipment and fuel delivery components are now being pushed towards the E20 mandate.

My original 1990 300zx fuel injectors were eaten up by 10% ethanol back in the early 2000’s. As many have said, the original equipment on many older cars and lawn equipment cannot handle the corrosive properties of ethanol. However, if you are using newer equipment, 2000+ it shouldn’t really be a problem since manufacturers were planning and ready for the E10 mandate well before it arrived. Most new stuff coming out today is good for E15 to E20. Check with the manufacturer to be sure.

Ethanol, while it doesn’t get as good of fuel economy as pure gasoline, it does have its benefits. My turbo 20+ PSI VW Golf loved it’s cylinder cooling and anti-knock properties. We called it “God’s Nectar”, LOL. Nothing wrong with ethanol if your system is prepared to run it.

Been using regular gas , is it ok to try 100 pure gas ? Any inputs ,or unleaded? was going to try 100 pure, thanks
Talk about "indoctrination" bawhahahahahaha.
Yes, pure gas is a good thing, and no, there is no global warming. lol

That is crazy low miles...if you have problems it's probably going to be more related to that jeep sitting then anything.

I would probably run a few cans of seafoam through it .

Who had it before didn't use much but I am !!!!! Just was wanting to know about the gas , yes low low crazy miles
