On the road.
I was looking at Savvy Under Armor today and didn't see anything specifically listed for the TJ SE. Am I correct in assuming that there are no TJ SE specific under armor bits from Savvy, and the 4.0 bits are not appropriate?

I'm not 100% sure, but give them a call. They're super easy to get ahold of and can answer your question for 100% sure.

If you do call, let us know the answer, as I'm sure others will stumble upon this post at some point in time.

Will do Chris.

Edited to add: Gave them a call and missed them. They must be out to lunch or not back from Holiday just yet. Sent off an e-mail to the info line. So we shall see.

Well, haven't heard back from Savvy yet.

They're either still laughing so hard they can't talk yet, or furiously engineering a conversion to meet my needs.

There may be some sort of event going on (Blaine or Jerry might know) down there way that has them out of the office. We'll see...

Not too worried about it. Savvy's a good shop and if they actually thought they could sell under armor for SE's it would be listed in the catalog. I'm sure they are busy doing stuff that makes more sense.

I don't see why the 4.0 transfer case skid wouldn't bolt on. Is the transfer case on the 4 bangers different?

They are all out practicing for KoH... I talked to them last week about it...

I did just order a skid from them for my 00 sport with an auto trans (which I didn't see listed -just manual) though.

But, yeah, I would expect a little delay on the reply because of them being out in Johnson valley

I haven't seen an UA offering for the 2.5l, just the 4.0. Just within the last few months did is they develop the kit for 97-02 auto. They hadn't had much demand so they didn't bother (that's what I gathered from the thread) until a few people asked about it.

It's possible that with a few inquiries, they could develop one for the 2.5.

Blaine may have an inside scoop, above is just what I read.

Nope, same transfer case as all the rest (Rubi's excepted)

That would explain it... Thought it might be something along those lines. Like I said, I'm not all that worried about them getting back to me immediately.

Pestering Blaine about skid plates for the SE just really seems counter productive to me for some reason. If he wanders through this thread and has an answer, that's cool. Not going to PM him or anything over it.

Then I don't get it... If the SE uses the same transfer case as the other TJs, why wouldn't a 4.0 skid plate work on the SE?

That I don't know @Chris. Don't you have Savvy UA on your rig? Parking the two side by side and throwing a tape and taking some pictures would tell the tale.

I don't have it... yet!
LOL...well alrighty then! For some reason I thought that you did.

You know, I'm going to head out one of these days and find me one of those 4.0 TJ's and take some measurements. Take the grand-kids with me for cover. Hit up a couple of used car lots.

If all of the mounting points on the 4.0's are close to what they are on the 2.5's, then it should theoretically work, right? At least close enough.

Yep, that's my thought. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work, unless I'm missing something.

Mounting points, on the 2.5, are just a little different sometimes than all the rest of the TJ clan it seems. Starts with the motor mounts and travels through the whole drive train. Lots of stuff is the exact same, and then the engineers throw a wrench in to keep you honest.

My bet is that it's not a direct swap into the Savvy UA, but it's close enough that you can make it work with a little creative customization.

Go figure.

Yeah, if things were just a little bit off, I suspect you could make it work with some creativity.
