Savvy Under Armor

The TNT looks like it's just a transfer case skid. The Savvy UA is a complete skid system that protects from the engine back to the transfer case.

Well the only thing I can see being different is the trans mount that goes with it. The early models are just trans skids motor separate. I just installed mine yesterday. Crossmember and skid bolts to frame. Only other thing else to bolt up is trans plate.

That's a Savvy? Interesting. Thanks for sharing that.

Yes sir. Very nice skid plate. I read just about every forum thread on plates before I bought it. I actually picked it up at there shop just to talk to them. Can't wait to grab my tank skid and engine skid from them. Also best I have found.

@mrblaine? I understand you design a lot of Savvy stuff. Any input on slapping Savvy under armor on a 99 SE?
The issue will be the location of the motor mount brackets welded to the frame. They are further back on the SE than they are on the Sport and other 4.0 trim packages. You would have to come up with some supports to get the braces down to the front of the engine skid to make it work.

...
I did just order a skid from them for my 00 sport with an auto trans (which I didn't see listed -just manual) though.
...
Did you order a skid made specifically for 00 Sport with an auto transmission (which isn't listed on the website)?
or did you order a skid for a manual trans?

I'm only asking because I have a 97 TJ auto transmission, and the Savvy UA is high on my list of wants.
On their website I don't see one that works for mine:
Under Armor Modular Manual 1997-2002
Modular Under Armor for 03-06, Manual or Auto

The 32RH requires an entirely different skid and cross member which is why it hasn't been done yet. It would have to be a stand alone product with very little commonality of parts between it and the other U/A products.

Hmmm, I wondered about that also when I was getting the part - I didn't order it directly through Savvy, so am wondering if the right part is sitting on my floor. I did tell the person I had the auto trans, though... I'm guessing now that it isn't, which sucks :/

Obviously, Blaine would know better than anyone...

Thanks a bunch, I suspected something like that.

Sorry for the thread revival. But I'm guessing that there hasn't been any work done to make an engine skid for the 2.5L since this thread was posted. However, is the rear cross member and transfer case skid for the 97-02 manual the same for both the ax-15 and ax-5? It would be awesome to be able to use at least part of the Savvy UA system even if I can't use the whole thing.

Also, I'd love to be a guinea pig for a 2.5L engine skid if Savvy ever pursues that:D

Under Cover Fabworks has the required parts to install an aluminum transfer case and engine skid specifically for 2.5 TJ's. It's not a cheap kit, but it's strong and lightweight with a ton of options to meet your specific wheeling requirements. It's looking like the way I'm going when I get there.

I have looked at the UCF UHC tummy tuck for a couple years. Definitely a very nice option that gets the t-case high and tight, and I saw a couple weeks ago that you can get a matching engine skid for the 2.5. But the advantage of having a crossmember, being able to remove the skid without putting a jack under the transmission, and coming with countersunk bolts is a huge plus for the Under Armor.

But I agree, for as long as I've looked at options for protecting and raising the drive train, UCF is the best option for the 2.5L. Guess I'm still holding onto a small glimmer of hope that I'll see a thread from Gerald or Blaine about beta testing UA for the 2.5.
