The Air Force says TJ's are EMP resistant. At least on the test range down in New Mexico.

That's odd. I know you've mentioned this before, I just wonder what it is about them that makes them EMP resistant.

Hence your comment about insulin and coil and point powered vehicles. ;-) I still haven't read the sequels though. Did you?
Not so much the book as being an EMT and thinking about "wilderness medicine". I was also a nuclear and chemical target analyst as an Artillery officer. Very familiar with EMP.

Chris all field artillery officers that went through the officer advanced course were awarded the prefix 5 to their MOS. NC tgt analyst. Nothing special but sure gave a unique perspective to life.

Am I FOS Frank? It wouldn't be the first time that someone with more training / experience corrected a belief that I thought I knew. I REALLY need to find that report in the archives and re-read it to make sure I'm not passing off bad info.

That I don't know. I'm starting to doubt that I even know that, actually. The older I get, the less I know for sure. Pretty soon I'll be wandering around with a blank look on my face making grunting sounds to scare children and Portland dwellers.

I don't remember for sure. I don't think the M151A qualified as a TJ. I would not think any of the civilian vehicles would be EMP resistant. $$$$$$$$. I do know that when I got my training in 1973 there was an awful lot of thought being put into how to make sure we survived an attack. I was trained to make sure "they" did not, and we didn't kill ourselves in the process.

IRRC, the report had a whole bunch of graphs, charts and formulas that made my eyes glaze over just reading it. The sort of information that I hadn't seen since engineering physics. In one of the appendices there was a list of stuff sorted by what died, what stopped and needed repair, and what just stopped but started back up without needing to be repaired. A surprising amount of stuff just needed to have relatively minor fixes, and ran fine afterwards. The Jeep Wrangler they tested was in the list of stuff that stopped, but started right back up with no apparent ill effects. The comment was that some of the stuff that stopped and started back up would / could be harmed by EMP if the EMP source was close enough, but as a practical matter it wouldn't be important because the operator wouldn't be functional anyway. Or words to that effect. The study was from the late '90's, so if the test Wrangler was a new one, it would have been a TJ.

Steve got bored waiting for a pork roast to cook on the Traeger, and googled "Liberal Preppers". Things went down hill from there...

Just 'cause if you can lift the projectile without machinery, you're doing it wrong.
