Been a while since I've posted an update. The Jeep has actually become my daily driver for the last couple of months due to issues with my other car which has slowed down progress on the build. I have made some recent improvements though and figured now was a good time for an update.
I've been missing a shift boot since I first got the Jeep and realized how poor of shape the original one was in. I finally got around to replacing it with a Redlinegoods leather shift boot, and took the time to clean up the metal retainer while I was in there. Was this necessary? No, but I know it would have bothered me if I didn't take care of this before adhering the new boot.
Here is the metal frame before I started
After thoroughly sanding to remove the rust and old glue
Sprayed a few coats of primer on the bare metal
And after a couple coats of texture black paint
And we have a shift boot! I'm sure I didn't do a perfect job with the install, but it's holding up well so far and looks much better than a gaping hole in the center console
I also took this opportunity to replace my cracked defroster vent trim, steering column shroud, and climate control knobs. I also installed a set of 3D printed seat bushings which worked wonders to eliminate the wobble in the front seats.
Many of you will be familiar with the OPDA issues that plagued the later model TJs and I finally got around to getting mine replaced. I did re-use the OEM cam position sensor but kept the Crown sensor as a backup since the OEM sensors are pretty much unobtainable nowadays.

The great news is the OPDA swap actually made a tremendous improvement in my engines idle. Much smoother overall now!
Since becoming my daily driver, I became very aware of the need for new shocks. My Jeep still had the original shocks on (as far as I could tell atleast) and the ride was frankly terrible. Wasn't a huge deal for a second vehicle, but it took priority as I started putting more miles on.

The top nut on my drivers side front shock was seized and required some... workarounds for removal
New shocks installed!
I only just replaced the shocks today, but already I can tell the ride quality has improved massively. One of those jobs I wish I'd done sooner now that I know just how shot the old shocks were.
I think that covers most of the more notable things I've done to the Jeep since my last update. Sound system is still in the works, though delayed as other things take priority. I am working on some exciting things for the near future though...
