How I Finished-Out My Dash

I'm a big fan of silence and contemplation. I never listen to anything while driving. (Weird, I know.) I like the quiet. So this is how I finished-out my dash after I had taken it apart to eliminate all of the rattles.

Haha! That's the reason I took the dash apart. I didn't say I actually accomplished the goal.

Hey! I do that from time to time. I have a pretty long commute to work. I usually listen to playlists on my iPhone or podcasts. Sometimes, though, I just want to turn everything off.

Same, I have not turned mine on since I bought it... Might be related to my first 5 cars not having radios.

What did you use for a filler ?

I have a removable faceplate that works in a similar fashion. When I want silence I simply don't open my security glove box and put the faceplate in place. But probably if I had better speakers I'd listen more. I do listen. But not as much if I could hear the words. lol.

Wouldn’t call Ripley quiet but my radio‘s face has been off for a while now. Been too lazy to reinstall it. Wildryde, I’ve got the bad oem radio that came out of her if you need a filler that doesn’t make noise. Get yourself some sheet metal and build a cubby hole where the radio was, couple of bends and a pop rivet tool is all you need.

Yah, me too. I can do a hole day trip with nothing but the noise of the Jeep/VW. The VW never had a radio installed in it. I did make a suitcase speaker box that I can control with my phone or iPod, but rarely do. The Jeep I just either turn it off, or if I get bored with the music I listen to KFBK new talk radio.

I have to admit though, I am trying to make the Jeeps radio sound better for when I do listen to music. Still need to ad the subwoofer and another amp. LOL

I Don listen to much music either, but I just installed a Kenwood with blue tooth so I can talk hands free. They are pretty strict about it around here.

I would love to listen some tunes as I travel around. Sound is abysmal around town and I can't hear a darn thing when on the freeway.

Bought new radio/cd from Walmart for $79. Has blue tooth for hands free and ear bud jack for listening to radio in noisy jeep.
