Front Seat Tumbler Adjustment?

Ever since I got my Jeep three years ago, when I push up on the latch on the side of the head rest of the passenger seat, it starts to move forward, then gets hung, and I have to jerk or pull hard on the top of the seat to get it to tumble all the way forward. I’m sick and tired of it. I can see there is a cable mechanism, but I don’t know how it works or if I can tighten the cable to get it to work better. Does anyone know how to adjust these or what I need to do to fix it?

This is a good post. My kids gave up on having to hit the back of the seat like a tackling dummy to get out, they just step on the center console and climb through the middle. This is on my project board now.

The following is a copy and paste from another thread regarding the same issue with the driver's seat. The below picture would be reversed for the passenger seat with the lever on the console side...

You can activate the fold and tumble mechanism with the lever under the seat. You just reach under the seat and press down on the lever. Once you get it figured out, its fairly easy to use. It's not as convenient as a working pull tab/cable, but it's not as big of a PITA as replacing a broken cable.

Since I have owned my Jeep, neither of my cables worked. I thought that tab under the seat was the only way to get the seats in the full tumble position.

Both of my seats were very hard to tumble when I bought the Jeep. When I had both seats out to shampoo them I lubricated every moving part I could find with WD-40. The passenger seat works pretty smooth. The drivers seat is better but not great.

The pull tab on my pax seat isn't connected to my tumble lever, so have no idea on the routing. Is there a routing picture? I thought the only option was to operate lever under the seat manually until I saw this post. The drivers side does not have the option.

My seat back will tilt but the seat will not tumble. I found the lever under the seat tonight so I can tumble it now but I found a cable underneath that is not connected. Where does it attach?

it’s the same on my 02 Wrangler, the tab only connects to the tilt, the tumble cable is intact on both ends but can’t figure out how they “work together”
