Hey guys I have a 05 Jeep wrangle that has a manual transmission in it. I was wonder how hard is it to put a remote start in it?
How hard would it be to install remote start on a 2005 Jeep Wrangler?

I looked into it last yr. Viper makes one I believe, but. I was told you have to leave your jeep in neutral for it to start. So I passed.
That sounds like a clever requirement for a manual, haha. But, yeah this limitation means it is not like a carefree automatic trans when you install one. That safety switch limits you and I am not sure I would trust it until I see how it worked. I like to have my Jeep in gear and the e-brake on when I park, so I'm with you, I would never install one of these on a manual.

Out of curiosity, what is YOUR reason for wanting remote start?

Having gone against everyone's advice back in the day and installed a remote start on a manual transmission vehicle, I can't stress this enough... DO NOT DO IT!!!!!
The one time you leave it in gear (which will happen) you potentially risk doing some serious damage. In my case I ended up starting it in gear and it went right through someones garage door and ripped the entire thing off the brackets.
Again, this is a monumentally stupid idea, I don't care how smart you think you are.
The only exception would be if maybe they make some sort of a sensor that can tell if your vehicle is in gear, which I'm not aware of. If that doesn't exist, scratch this idea, please!

It does exist. It's called your brain.
Haha, I thought my brain was working at the time. I used the remote start so many times without issues, but it was the one time I totally spaced and left it in gear, parked right in front of some girl's (whom I was dating at the time) garage. Imagine my embarrassment when I started it and the car lurched forward, plowing into the garage
There are alarms that are programmed for manual transmissions. The only way it will allow you to use the remote start feature is through a process.. If you want to use the remote start;
When parking the vehicle, set the park brake, shift into neutral, release the clutch, while the engine is still running you press the remote start on the key fob. At this point you turn the ignition switch off and remove key, the engine will stay running. Once you get out of the vehicle you press arm the alarm. The engine will shut down and doors will lock. If you attempt to disarm the alarm before using the remote start it will not start the vehicle.

Damn, this didn't exist when I had my remote start, but that was probably back in 2003. Well if it did exist, I didn't know about it at least.
They did just not commonly known. I was going to have it installed on my 97 but decided I didn't really need it in Washington. Now that I'm in Idaho it's on my wish list again.
Crazy too, because I had mine professionally installed at CarToys at the time (if you can call that professional, haha). You'd think they would have told me something about this. He told me they didn't install remote starts on manual transmission vehicles, but he was willing to make an exception since he knew me.
Remote start would be great for cold days where you could leave the heat on and ready to go when it fires up.
"Car Toys'says it all. They told me that they wouldn't do it either, and the brother of my girlfriend at that time was the install manager. He said it was a company policy. They didn't even sell that style. But he sent me to Magnolia HiFi with his business card and they said no problem. I about choked when they told me it would be double the cost of what Car Toys wanted to just install the basic alarm without remote start.
