The dealer claims that's because of the off-road lights being installed.
I realize that, but certain off-road lights ARE illegal in VA so that could be legit.

I’d still say it didn’t pass because of the 3 ft hole in the frame. Could be the lights tho I guess.

I’d say the dealer is full of shit and just trying to make a sale. You argue your point like you have your heart set on it but be patient. There are much better TJ’s out there. Ones that you won’t have to put $10,000 into and still regret later. You can even fly out to somewhere that isn’t prone to rust and have it shipped back home and still come out ahead. It might be pretty on the outside but it’s still a huge pile of shit underneath.

I'm not sure what conversation you're following but I'm not "arguing my point". I pointed out what the dealer said when asked about it failing inspection and that's a legit inspection fail in Virginia. I don't know if that hole in the frame would be an inspection fail in Virginia so I can't speak to that.
Edit: I just looked it up and rust holes in the frame are a fail in Virginia.
The vehicle history report made it look like it was traded in to a dealer in MD who then have auctioned it off. These guys either bought it sight unseen or didn't inspect it thoroughly.

Honestly tho all jokes aside your not still considering this POS are you? It’s got a damn man hole in the frame. It’s roached! It’s not worth $3k.
I've moved on to asking for frame pictures of my 2nd and 3rd choice LJs (non Rubicons though). The upside is they're actually rather close to home. (And hopefully not rusty.)
I've been searching lately for LJ rubis and they are out there in good numbers with low miles and there are some true gems in Arizona and some other dry(er) states if you can make a weekend out it. The Unlimited Rubicon Sahara is a cool jeep no doubt, but the numbered stickers and accents aren't (IMO) enough to make it the unicorn it is claimed to be. Also, the grill on this one is not the chrome grill it came out of the box with, I only mention this because that is an accent feature this particular limited edition jeep came with. For what its worth, I think walking away from this one is a good choice.

My point was that the RubiHari had a a chrome grill, not black. It makes me wonder if there was front end damage or if someone just wanted it black?
Offroad lights aren't illegal here in Va. They're everywhere here, especially massive LED lightbars on JKs!
I know this place. If you scroll down the pictures in the link there are two pictures that show stacks of cash. What kind of dealer does that? This kind....buyer beware!

They might not be illegal as in you won’t get a ticket for them but you will fail an inspection if you don’t cover them up. Only DOT approved fog lights are allowed.
