Question about friction modifier for Dana 35

Hey Chris, first of all thanks for your thread about fluid capacities (https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/wrangler-tj-fluid-capacities.195/) super helpful! One question I had is, when you mention that the Dana 35 requires 4 oz of friction modifier if it has limited slip, do we still need to add that if the oil already comes with "limited slip additives." I'm thinking of the Mobil 1 75w-40. It doesn't mention "friction modifier" but claims to have "limited slip additive." Also, is it OK to put that mobil 1 in the dana 30 in the front or does it have to be without the additive?

There's enough friction modifier/lsd additive in 99% of GL-5 gear lubes. Few don't have the additive. If present the back label of the bottle will say something like 'Compatible with limited slip differentials'. The additive is compatible with all axles with or without LSDs, and with lockers.
