Call this a rant, an observation or what have you. My boy and I on a little camping adventure close to home, more camping than wheeling, so the wife can come in the evenings after work. We’re at a junction on the FS road system so we see a lot of traffic going by. Dang near every Jeep we’ve seen the last two days has been doors on, windows up. Not just newer Jeeps, either. Weather has been hot, until mild today. Now, I’m not against AC by any means. Hell, I might even use it a time or two if I had it. Honestly though, I miss no doors and open windows come winter and look forward to spring and mild days. Why the heck though, would you drive around on awesome, easy trails in gorgeous mountains and forests AND NOT ENJOY THE DAMN OUTDOORS? Sure, there’s a little dust. So what? It’s a Jeep. Get the air hose and vacuum and blow’er out after.
Probably the same people that don’t wave. 🤣

Well I can tell you that when it comes to keeping doors and tops on, JKs and JLs are notorious for this all year round.
Yeah, it was the TJ Rubi that broke the camel’s back and made me post though.
Did see a well restored classic Land Rover series II or IIa yesterday that had the good form to go topless.

In a TJ you really have no excuse. I drove mine today without the top and doors for 40 miles. Absolutely loving it.

Id bet you’re in another level of heat, but for the dry heat of Colorado I’ll just crank the AC and run the Jeep open. It’s just enough to keep the sweat off.

Here in Ohio we experience dry heat maybe three different days a year but humidity kills. I leave the top on because the sun sucks but I run no doors and no windows most of the time April through October. On those hot humid days my AC is on.

Its too damn hot here most of the time for that. Not against the idea, but I don't do well in heat.
Mascara running isn't a common problem here , but we understand.

Just messing with you again man.
To drive a TJ with the top on and windows up in nice weather is bad form , and shows a lack of adherence to tradition according to the Forum Creed.

Honestly , the top off IS WHAT A JEEP IS ABOUT to me. Not trying to overstate it , but if I couldn't enjoy it topless, I likely would not own one.

I never had a hard top til last year , and I like it , but it changes the vehicles character entirely. Feels like a little bronco or something.

But having the top off gives you the free feel of a motorcycle , with the comforts of a car.

I haven't had the hard top off since I put the roof rack on. Before that I had a rig for taking it off setup at a previous house and had it off all summers. (Hand crank pulley with padded bars/hooks)

Now it doesn't have a covered spot or garage to sit in when I'm not driving it...or room anywhere to put the removed hard top.

I could never drive with the doors off without people looking at my sexy legs.

Hey! I use the good stuff. Only cheap mascara runs in the heat! Slightly more seriously, it pays to use good makeup, stage lights are hot and your face will melt off in no time if you don't have quality stuff. Slightly more seriously than even that, I *will* have the top off at some point - in Winter no doubt. Winters here are quite nice!

I feel your pain....This is why I stopped shaving mine.

It annoys me too though...Come Spring I'm chopping at the bit to get the roof down and the doors off...
Case in point: Its Winter hear and saw the sun was out on Saturday so thought now is my chance....15 mins in and it down poured...got soaked putting the top up again. I just laughed as its all part of the fun.

Really the only reason I dont want a roof rack is because it makes taking the top off near impossible.

Obviously from my avatar pic I’m a huge top off fan. Installed a Lange hoist this year to make it a 5 min process. I simply run my rampage soft top safari style majority of the time.
