California Slick Rock / Deer Valley Trail July 18-19th

Have any of you done any of the trails near Shaver Lake ?

Swamp Lake trail
Coyote Lake trail
Bald Mtn.
Back in the seventies and eighties I used to hit those trails in full size rigs, also Devils Gulch and Hites Cove down to the Merced River.

Is that the name of that obstacle? Winch Hill? There’s still Old Big Sluice we didn’t run, I think it would stack up.
The sign called it Rock Pile.

Thanks for the correction. It’s a fun and challenging trail. Thanks for taking us all through it.
well if it makes you feel any better the group with the busted red LJR winched all but one jeep up it, the CJ with the 40+ tires on it made it up but I think @Plumber1 made it look easier.

If you don't recall that busted LJR was the guy who said the toyota had no place being on the trail and wouldn't make it. Karma struck him that's for sure.

I've only ever ran the trail from Lake Alpine to Utica, so it's an interesting perspective watching you guys going that direction. Definitely looks tougher going that direction.

It would be like night & day. Running it that way is all downhill, so it would be much easier.

That’s awesome! Was this the secret to the extra articulation that got you up that ledge?

It's a new mod that allows the axle a bit of slop so it can find traction better. 😬

I'm so happy that didn't fall out on the trail, or the drive over.

When I first saw that it reminded me of Cadillac Hill, and I thought holly crap :poop::eek:
were is Midnight LJR he was suppose to be the trail boss, now all of a sudden I am the f'ing front of the line, way to give an old guy a heart attack.

So I started up my little 6 cyl ( no V8 like Indy ) pushed in the clutch hit the front and rear locker switches,
reciting three Hail Marys did the sign of the cross, 🙏 all which helped more than you know. And up we went, 😂 this maybe my new ritual

I was worried he would get stuck and two-block the trail and we would be forced to backtrack.
