2006 LJ: Thinking of picking it up. Thoughts on price?

Here are the frame pictures. Seems pretty solid, maybe just some surface rust that can be cleaned up?

Have them send you some pics of the frame by the rear axle... seems pretty nice... price isn’t to far off if that part of the frame is ok.. different parts of country have different price ranges... up there in good shape I imagine that is a good price.. either way you won’t go wrong..

The frame doesn't look rusty as much as it looks crusty. Looks like it needs a good cleaning and new paint on the frame.

I would say that if the rest of it is clean, that price is fair.

What part of the frame do you mean "by the rear axle"? Rear lower control arm mounts? Upper spring mount points?

Actually You sent a pic of it .. looks ok👍🏻.. usually where the lower control arm connects to axle

A couple things I might change but overall looks like a quality build. Looks like the new style antirock and those springs look almost new.

Any idea what steering that is?

sourbluff, looks like a synergy setup from my quick research. Unfortunately, not well loved around here, but the high quality lift kit kinda makes up for that in my mind. It looks really solid too, for whatever that's worth.

Irun, thank you. I have been in contact with the owner of the one in VA beach. They have another serious buyer getting it inspected by a local shop soon, and they will send me frame pictures once that happens. I have already been able to take a chunk out of the asking price on the green one after some messaging. Silver is probably my least desired color (almost willing to rule it out completely), and Jeep Green is my #1 choice by quite a bit. Silly, but from my favorite to least favorite makes it a bit bigger of a deal. I'll be having a phone conversation with the Green Jeep owner in about an hour.

The guy with the 04 seems like a pleasure to deal with, and has like no detail in his ad. I wouldn't even pursue it if it were a green manual for that price.

Doesn't seem silly at all. I passed up a few perfect LJR's that were green then finally found my most desired color: silver. I kept telling myself that if I bought a Jeep in a color that was not great to me I would keep looking after the purchase and that would prevent me from putting money into parts because as soon as I found the right color I would make the switch.

I dont care for the green Jeeps and would never consider getting bronze or gold colored wheels but I really do like the combination on this Jeep.

suicideking, exactly my thoughts. Ditch those steps and get some armor there instead would be a priority. Next thing down the list would be considerably less important with all that is done. Also, not mentioned in the ad, has 4.56 G2 Gears with an Auburn LSD in the rear.

Viking, funny stuff. Lucky for you the silvers are relatively common by comparison. My last LJ was khaki and I never quite stopped checking for green ones, and even offered up for trade before selling. I think you are right about not wanting to put anything into it, in the hopes the right color pops up. More reason for me to stretch for this one.

I definitely would've paid another $1000+ for orange. A friend of mine couldn't live with his color and had it painted factory blue.

Manual is also more difficult to find, but still somewhat common for TJ's since some still think it's better (even though it's not lol). I paid to have my manual swapped to auto. Best mod I've done.

Well, just talked on the phone with the guy for about an hour. Was very thorough and honest, and mentioned every bolt he changed and scratch he noticed.

The one thing he told me to not be surprised by when I show up, is that it sometimes grinds a bit going to second. He said this is common with the synchros in the 6 speed. I believe he was being honest and we are at 16.5 right now. I told him I'd get back to him tomorrow with a yes or no. Leaning toward yes right now

I have had two 2005/2006 with the 6 speed. Both felt the same going into second. Not great. As I get used to it I am better at making smooth shifts. So I agree it is common. Should not be happening but it does.

I hate to admit it but im gonna have to agree with you, yes I think manual is more fun and simpler. But no matter how good you are at driving stick, the autos are simply much better for any wheeling.

Exactly.

Driving up a mountain on the highway at 40mph, the manual is definitely better.

Driving up a waterfall at .000001 mph where all you see is sky and might stall out, auto is definitely better.
