Hi,
I'm planning on putting on a 3 inch suspension lift. The kit comes with shocks and some budget boost coil spring spacers. What else will I need to get to make my jeep drivable after?
Thanks in advance!

YOu may need to drop your TCase to avoid driveline vibrations. Or you could try a 1" motor mount lift to help correct the driveline angles. You may need or want an adjustable front trackbar to center the front axle under the rig. Also, you might need a rear trackbar relocation bracket to center the rear trackbar under the rig. Probably need some extended sway bar links for both front and rear. For front you could get some quick disconnects if you plan to go offroad. That should about cover it. 2.5-3" is about the breaking point, so you are in an iffy area. Top tire size at that lift height is 32".

I suggest researching a bit more before you commit to a kit that includes 3” spring spacers.
Yeah, you’d be a lot better off with 2 inch springs and 1.25 body or something, even better 3 inch springs, hell even 2 inch springs spacers and a 1 inch body.

I agree with this being the best course of action unless you really want to dive in. If that's the case, 3" springs would be the best, not spring spacers. seems like a huge work around.

Everyone is challenging 3”. It is in the iffy zone. But do this first. Go measure your springs. If they are stock they are sagging some. Stock is 12” front and 8” rear. Then measure your spacer. I had a spacer once that claimed 2” but was 1.75”. Anyway, do this so you REALLY know how much lift you’ll have.

Agreed, I have a 2 inch spacer but -1 sag so effectively about 1 inch of lift.

I’m just trying to figure out why 3? Does he wanna run 33’s. Is it just to look better or if this to get over rocks? Do you really “need” bigger tires? It would really help to know why he wants to Lift the Jeep, looks? Offroad ability? Rides to soft for him? And what’s the end goal in terms of “built out”.

Great questions for the OP.

I have 06 mine has 2inch body lift right now the jeep is stock I’m currently on 17inch a/t tires wanting to put 33/10.5/15 on it, I will be doing some off roading, what will I need to invest in and what would be the best lift, as I was looking into a 3 inch as well.

What is your budget? A common budget friendly 3" lift is from Zone off-road. I have no personal experience with h Done but am sure someone else will prove de feedback

Consider swapping the 2" body lift for a 1" body lift. 5" total lift will look odd with skinny 33" tires. Cheap and easy swap if your rig isn't rusted.

I'm computer illiterate so I can't do links. Search budget lift and you will find a lot of great information. I have 2.5 inch springs and plan on running 32" tires on my Rubicon 16" wheels. I'm still on the fence with adding a 1.25" body lift to run a 33" tire. I've been following @CodaMan's lift ideas and it's pretty budget friendly.

I have the BDS 3” lift, from what I understand it’s pretty much the same as Zone. It was a complete kit and so far I am happy with it. If you don’t want to do TC drop you may need to add some other components like a SYE, adjustable control arms. Not sure if you will need a different rear DS or not, but I am sure others will know.

I do have a LJR which has a little more “forgiveness” on driveshaft angles.

All good advice here for a budget 2.5-3” lift. Zone, BDS. Get some Rancho 5000x or Black Max ahocks, do a ZJ Tie Rod conversion, remove the 2” body lift and go with a 1.25”. For the rear axle you’ll want a relocation bracket. Adjustable front trackbar. You should be good to go!

I envy you and all your pictures of your previous Jeeps. 90% of mine were done with a regular camera and have been lost over the years of moving around.

Some of them were scanned from a printer. 🤫 I wish I had a picture of my first lifted 98' white XJ. I sold it to a 16 year old with a learners permit and never saw it again.

So the BDS did come with the rear track bar relocation bracket, the front they wanted a new holed drilled. I ended up getting adjustable TB for front and rear.

I second the ZJ Tie rod conversion, cost is minimal and I couldn’t believe the difference from the TJ system. I am sure there are better systems, but the ZJ conversion is well worth the investment.
