Looking to replace the rear locker in my Rubicon. Correct me if I am wrong, but when using the stock style thick cut R&P, I should be using the 3.73 and numerically lower locker correct? also just the std non rubicon Dana 44 install kit?

The guys at quadratec are telling me it won't fit and I need to also re[place the R&P.

Thick cut gears for 3.73 and numerically lower gears. I have the same thing going on with my rear ARB.

The Rubicon part doesn't matter, but seems to confuse a lot of people. It's a Dana 44.

Thanks, that's what I figured. Eaton's application chart isn't very clear either.
I tried ordering through Quadtatec a received a call from their tech department saying it wouldn't fit and that the std Dana 44 install kit would be incorrect as the E-locker uses special carrier bearings.

If I understand correctly, because you have thick cut gears (Rubicons came from the factory with thick cut 4.10s) you would use this standard size carrier. If you were going to change ratios, you would probably want an offset carrier with standard size gears. (If I am understanding correctly), your 100% right and you should ignore the people at Quadratec. Honestly I view Quadratec like an AutoZone, and would take their opinion with a grain of salt.

Yup i have thick cut 4.88's. The only reason I occasionally order thru Quadratec is because they usually have parts in stock and they are about 2 hours away, so I get my parts the next day.

Yeah I dont have anything against ordering from them, I just make sure I know exactly what im looking for beforehand.

You can go either way on this. If you go with the numerically lower Eaton carrier, you'll need thick cut gears. If you go with the "and up" Eaton carrier, you'll need standard cut gears. The reason Rubi's have thick cut gears is due to the design of the factory locker. Once you change that out, it's now just a regular Dana 44 housing. The axle experts can correct me, but that's the way I understand it.
