Hey guys,

My sye is leaking tranny fluid from this large plug. Should the teflon washer be replaced with a metal/copper washer like an oil pan would use? It's not leaking a ton, but it's a nuiscance and unnerving to not be able to stop it. I've cranked down on this more and more, but still it drips.

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I assumed the teflon washer had some sort of purpose, and kept it when I did the sye install. Maybe it's just for shipping? I actually have no idea what the purpose of this plug is at all, so any insight would be great haha.

9/10 its usually the speedo gear O-ring that is leaking and accumulating around that plug. Take look at the O-ring and see if it is split or sliced from installing it. Try a new speedo O-ring and grease the hell out of it so it can be worked in easily.

Holy hell I didn't even think of checking that but it makes sense now you mention it. Will check!

Late update: was the speedo gear. The back third of the o right ng caught the lip and sheared right off. Fluid was seeping out the back and running down to the plug and looking like a plug leak, and getting all over the rear pumpkin and gas tank skid and bumper. Replaced and greased and gently reinstalled with new o ring. 👍
