We are thinking about moving someplace warmer

We are looking at moving someplace warmer. We are currently in northwestern WI, and tired of Sub-Zero weather and rusting vehicles.
Maybe not extreme tropical or desert but just far enough South we don't have to put away are toys for the winter. I bought my TJ in CA because I couldn't find one with a decent frame up here and I don't want it to rust away. My wife loves her Camaro but it's useless in the winter. She does want to be somewhat closer to the ocean, maybe a days drive. And it would be awesome to live somewhere that has lots of legal trails for exploring in me TJ. Just looking for ideas. And hopefully no emissions testing, lol.
Does such a place exist? Maybe just dreaming. Thanks

I ditched NJ for the southern Oregon coast for most of the reasons you stated including no emmisions, rare snow/cold plenty of trails and low taxes. Cool and a bit damp in the winter but there are 4 seasons and no heat.

Living in the next town north of you, I agree completely about moving. Wife an I are looking at Arizona or the western slopes of Colorado or maybe Nevada in about 7 or so years..

Mild winters and a day’s drive to the ocean limits you to a very specific set of locations. Choose from those areas based on the other things you want/need.

I haven’t lived in any of those areas, but based on my own visits I would recommend checking out the southern Appalachians like NC and SC.

I can second southern Appalachia, beautiful country - I myself prefer to be well inland.
I’m flying to Charlotte in two weeks I’ll have to check out the area. From my YouTube research desert/Slickrock seems to be more my style and where I’ll go once the kid is done with school.

Come down to Phoenix.... there are few places warmer.

Lot's of trails here.... we do have emissions testing however.

5 hours to San Diego..... 6 if someone else is driving. 3 hours away from the forest and skiing (Flagstaff). Cost of living is decent as well.

I'm about ready to sell my place and move somewhere that doesn't have snow in the winter. It isn't WI or MI or ND/SD but I have to park my toys for 3/4 month out of the year. Ready for year round riding and fun. AZ or TX have been on my scope. Not sure I want to move any further east than that.
