Illegal in Commiefornia. An LA busibody promulgated a ballot initiative to outlaw slaughtering horses for meat - and the idiot Ca voters voted it in. An absolute pet peeve - and a waste of perfectly good meat.At the glue factory? Or Wendy's?

I also have a 1949 Monark, though I don't recall if it's a Rocket, or not. Bought it off Ebay years ago from a fella in Chicago. Those Monarks are beautiful bikes, especially the Silver King "Hex Tube".Too many. Most have to do with bicycles. Bikes are an n+1 hobby, where n equals how many bikes you have and 1 equals how many more bikes you need. Itās also easier to hide a new bicycle in the garage amongst the current stable than say, another car or motorcycle.
In my early thirties, I did a lot of ultra marathon cycling events. Several 24 hour time trials, cross state brevets, and the like, calling it career after wrapping up the 1991 Paris-Brest-Paris Randonee with a lousy finish.

Since then, the riding has been a LOT more sedate as my knees went to hell. Mostly fixed gear or internally geared hubs, aka, 3 speeds now. When my riding was interrupted by my knees and a car/bike crash, I collected and rebuilt bicycles. My oldest bike is a 1947 Monark Rocket out of Chicago. The bulk of the bikes are English, with a smattering of American and Asian bikes thrown in the mix.
When Iām not dicking with bikes, itās my 48 DeSoto or one of my motorcycles. The car is somewhat of a pain in the ass. When itās running right, itās a sweetheart. But when itās not... The motorcycles, on the other hand, donāt bother me as much when they are being persnickety. Almost a joy to tinker with. I have done camping trips on both my 79 cx500 and my Ural. The Ural wins hands down, there. Camping with the Honda is spartan, camping with the Ural is luxurious by comparison.

When not messing with things that have wheels, I collect old SLR cameras, mostly Russian Zenits and Pentax Spotmatics. And I read, a lot. I have my favorite fiction and sci-fi authors but I also read a lot of history, mostly early Antarctic exploration and biographies.
Although I no longer go hunting anymore because of my knees, I do keep my rifles in good condition. I havenāt found a range, though, since I moved.
I better add my grandkids, too. They are a hoot and I can send them home when they arenāt.
I had this exact bike, except mine was an '80. Same color, same handlebars....my 79 cx500...

I actually got to touch a Hex Tube once. They are rare because they couldnāt stand up to our Boomer abuse.I also have a 1949 Monark, though I don't recall if it's a Rocket, or not. My buddy had one as a kid. He comes from a well-off family...I actually got to touch a Hex Tube once. They are rare because they couldnāt stand up to our Boomer abuse.
He was a great looking horse (Buckskin), some guy took him up to Montana or Wyoming. At the glue factory? Or Wendy's?
They are great - both the family and the collectionYou have w wonderful family and quite a collection of firearms Iām envious, the way the gun market is youāve made a nice profit on the investment.
Great leather work!!I have a bunch of hobbies just like most people on here. Probably the 2 biggest ones for me are hunting and leather working. I also hike, mountain bike, muscle cars (use to be my main hobby) now my Chevelle spends most of its time in the garage. Making items from leather is definitely the biggest thing for me right now, has been for about 5 years. Once I am able to have a shop or larger property, I will start woodworking and blacksmith/metal fab. Already have every imaginable tool for woodworking, inherited them from my grandfather.
Just some pictures of mostly my leatherwork. I can make just about anything.
