TJ explodes on friends boyfriend

Just got done talking with my coworker and apparently her boyfriends TJ exploded on them last night. Literally. Thankfully no one was in the Jeep...what the hell could of this been from?!

Late Sept 2001 I was working for public health department of major US city. We had already had bomb threats, fake anthrax envelopes, etc. After work I get into my TJ, turn the key, and is loud boom that rocked the TJ. Everyone was running for cover. I of course needed a change of pants. After regaining my composure opened hood to find battery had exploded. Somehow no other damage but honestly one of scariest moments of my life largely due to timing.

Wow, that would make more sense. Happened a few spots over from my Jeep to which is the crazy thing...

Looks like some type of explosion in engine area Headlights are blown out and interior blown away from engine compartment. Strange.

TJ,s or any other vehicle do not just spontaneously Combust lol leaking fuel line onto very hot engine parts causes fire not explosions! happened to me with a Triumph 650 never have used a braded fuel line ever since! Factory all the way!
