PRP Daily Driver Seats

Hey

I'm seriously looking at getting a set of the PRP seats, did anyone get a set that was +4 inches tall? I'm 6'5" and I would like to have the tall seats but am concerned that they might not fit my TJ!

Thanks
Grant

I think they would fit. Might be a little tougher to get through the door during install but not impossible by any means. I'll try and remember to put a tape measure above mine this weekend and get a pic for you.

I just got my seats today. I can't wait to get them installed!

I ended up with an Elite Series High Back Bench which is 40" wide - 1" wider than PRP says fits in a TJ. I'm happy to report it fits like a glove! Here is a pic with the seat sitting flat so once it is raised a few inches it will have even more clearance between the wheel wells.

I really like that back seat, I thought about getting one but it would only be for my son and since my wife doesn’t like to wheel much he usually just rides up front. I don’t think he’s been in the backseat at all this year yet

Looks great but I think I’d miss the flip and fold of my back seat.

Wow that back seat looks great!
Can you post a picture or two of the front seats installed.
Thanks

So I finished up my PRP seat and bench install. I ended up purchasing the Enduro Elite seats and I want with a 40" Enduro bench. I was a little nervous going for a 40" since PRP only lists 39" as the supported TJ width. Fortunately it worked out with about 1/2 to spare.

I ripped out my old seats and cleaned and painted the bases. The flip forward still works if I reach underneath and rotate the bar. I may look at welding in a tab or handle in the future.

The seatbelt needs to be extended and bolted to the base. I used some 1/8" flat bar that I bent with a vise and BFH. I kept it long enough to get two grade 8 bolts on it. The off centre hole is actually repurposing an existing hole that needed to be enlarged.

It was a really tight fit and the seatbelts slide against the console. I may look to shorten the angle bracket or even replace the seatbelt receiver with something different. They fully recline and still flip forward.

For the rear bench I wanted to keep the angle, height and positioning as close to stock as possible. I figure they put these TJs through safety testing so might as well try to keep it close.

The factory bench is at a 17 degree angle, 11.5" high from the front, and about 10.5" back from the console.

To get the same measurements for the Enduro bench I had to raise the front 3.5" and the back by 2.5".

I ended up using some 2"x1" 1/8 channel that I bolted on its side. I then welded in some 3/16" flat bar as the mounting tabs.

I still need to pull it all apart to have the bench mount powder coated or painted but I am very happy with the end result!

I know this is an old thread but hopefully someone can let me know if the PRP daily drivers are good for... bigger guys? I'm 6'1 280 and was wanting new seats as mine are old and disgusting.

also @Jerry Bransford i'm tagging since you seem to be very knowledgeable I looked through threads and saw measurements. I saw near the back it measured about 11 inches? Is this correct? I'm pretty wide but don't think i'm 22 inches wide lol

At 5’10” ~195 lbs I wouldn’t want to be much bigger without ordering wider seats. But I’m not sure wider seats will fit with a center console.

that's what I thought... i'd have to get something without the sides that hold you in I guess so it gives me more surface area for my bum

I weighed 190-something when I installed my PRP seats and it fit fine. Seems to have a bit of extra room. I installed an extra-wide on the passenger side which is a tad too wide if you want easy access to the console. I have a steel Tuffy console and I had to push on it from the passenger side to very slightly bend it a tad toward the driver's side so it'd clear the console lid.

Also keep in mind that the recliner units may have a bit more room where the bolsters go on the sides, compared to the solid back ones.

Edit: The Enduro reclining units look to be very comfortable and have plenty of support without being a circus act to get in and out

The seats are a tight fit. You will need to make or buy an adapter to bolt them to your factory seat base. Its not difficult getting in and out, for 250 I would definitely make the purchase

@LJGreg did you go with the carbon fiber black vinyl? How do you like it?

Also what other colors/materials did you choose?

Yes I went with the carbon fiber black vinyl. I love the look of it and would do it again however the vinyl is pretty easy to damage. If anything sharp rubs up against it, it can tear or cause holes. I've been pretty luck so far except for one of the corners where the seat frame pokes through a little. I also used Graphite Grey Tweed for my seat centers, Italia stitching, seat pockets, and 2" extra tall.

Yes. You use seat adapters. To mount them and I just made a loop in the cable left under the seat then just pull on that to release it.
HOw'd you mount the factory seat belt receptacle?

The factory seat receptacle was too short for my Daily Driver seats, I ended up getting a vintage year Mustang seat receptacle which is longer and works great.

This is how I attached it to the seat base frame...

I just used a piece of angle-iron and grade 8 bolts.
