I have decided that I would enjoy new shocks for my Jeep. I am tired of my spine nearly shooting through the roof. Which rancho shocks would I get for a 3-3.5 inch lift and can you send a link? Thanks

RS9000x is my suggestion. Could be a good time for a front upper shock conversion. Will give you access to a greater variety of Rancho shocks allowing you to select the perfect shock for your application. Will require some measurements on your part and some time spent looking through shock specs. Went through this exercise when I swapped out the Bilsteins for Ranchos.

So I ordered the RS5000X with the part numbers 55255 and 55256. The Amazon page said it was for a 3.5in lift. My TJ has a 3.5in lift. Now I'm also seeing those are for a 4-5 in lift? Wtf. If they are indeed a little too big, what would it affect? Flex? Ride comfort? Would it be better to go down to the 2-3in lift shocks? I'd rather not but it may be worth it
So what size should I get? Will the ones I bought work or should I go through the hassle of returning them and getting the 2-3 in lift shocks?
There should be threads on here about it and maybe even size charts.
Even though it's a PITA, only way to really know is to put them on and cycle your suspension, there are threads on that as well. All TJ's are a little different, not everything works for everybody.
Ok let's pretend the ones I have are a little too big. What would be the downfall?
You would need to increase your bump stops to keep the shocks from bottoming out, limiting your uptravel.
I guess I will just have to see what my flex is like after installing the new shocks. Does it hurt anything if the shocks bottom out?
Well I suppose I will just have to flex and see if it will bottom out. Granted I never really flex much anyway. Just want road comfort.
I would return them and order 55239/55241. They run long already. I have 3” and run these. They are about right.
If your shocks are too long it will change your travel bias, causing less than optimal driving comfort.
So do they flex well for you? Although I never really flex. Just would like to at certain times.
Flex is a function of your coil springs. It will flex great. That’s the greatest single advantage of a TJ over all previous Jeeps. You just need to set your bumpstops correctly so everything clears.
So I have started the return process. But just to be sure, for a 3.5ish lift (maybe a tad less) i want the 239 and 241s?
