What did you do to your TJ today?

My impatience was at work this morning, so I went ahead and installed the RS5000x's on the Jeep with the stock sagging springs and went out for a drive to let my daughter learn how to shift a manual. She has had some practice on the farm, but never getting out of 2nd gear. Today she got through all of the gears. I surprised her with an uphill stop and start on pavement. I can say she got first dibs on chirping my new tires. LOL!! She did alright and feels good to know she can do it. She's still with a learners permit.

Here's some photos from around our neck of the woods.

Oh, and I'm loving the new tires and shocks. Can't wait to get the H&R springs on it. Hopefully they show up tomorrow.

Man we are lucky to live where we do, may not have the dry desert rocks but we sure have some beautiful places to ride here in the Appalachian range!!

I'm pretty stoked that we landed here. Spent most of my life bouncing back and forth across the Ohio River in Indiana and Kentucky. The scenery doesn't even begin to compare, not to mention all the stuff I love to do is now right out my backdoor.

First time posting to this thread after buying my LJ a month ago. Haven't had the time to drive it or work on it much, but have been reading all sorts of threads here on the forum as I work towards prioritizing what project(s) will deplete my bank account first. :)

After tracking down an OEM air box & intake locally, today I deleted the K&N cold air intake that the previous owner had installed....relatively easy first wrenching project!

New control arms in the front, and while doing that I found at full droop the brake lines were tighter than they should be so I installed extended brake lines... something the PO apparently didn't do when he installed the lift. Had a tough time removing one of the axle end bolts for the upper CA... but we got er done.

Changed transmission fluid on my 6sp, simple process. Magnetic plug is working to catch metal. My goal is to replace all fluids, transfer case next.

Refill with redline MTL. Not sure it helped clunky 1-2 gear shift, maybe a little, still need to pause and match revs for best results.

That one of those deals where you are like...well the magnet works...oh my the metal I'm losing.

SO newbie and newly acquired Jeep Ruby. Took a leap (mechanic wise) and replaced the ODPA!. Also did the plugs. Surprisingly it was very straightforward. Both have been there for a long time!. I had been having issues with a high idle, the engine over-revving when engaging the clutch and periodic RPM runaway...wasnt happy at all. Thanks to this forum, tracking these things down, also cleaned the idle control and the TB.

I was organizing wiring and came across something odd, a tube hanging down to the left of the engine. Looked around and found an inlet on the lower side of the intake manifold..that was wide open and the tubing was shaped to go right to that inlet...Attached, started up and the idle settled right down to 750!! Pumped!!!

Ill give it a test drive tomorrow..can't wait!! My 17 yr old daughter was having a tough time learning to shift with the RPM's jumping around...hopefully solved..and on to the next fix..alot to do to get her on track.. Buying a BUNCH of wire sheathing..stuff is literally falling apart...I will get her back in shape!!

Looking to do the same once I find a oem filter tube/box

Finally got around to spraying the jeep. I know there are opinions out there about bedlining but I absolutely love it. It'll look even better with the black diamond top on! Also got started on the interior.

The bedliner went on incredibly easy and is very forgiving. The raptor kit came with four bottles and I used a little over 2 of them to put 2 coats on the jeep. I'll use the last one at a later date on the inside.
I have a full bedlined 06.

You can absolutely thrash it , spray it with cleaner , wash with a brush and spray tire shine on it and it looks new. You can touch it up effortlessly.

You can work on it and sit tools on it. It's a carefree finish.

Good post.

I’m one of the guys that likes the bed liner, but I would only do it if it needed paint badly. I wouldn’t do it if the paint still looked good.
your bed liner job looks great!
Likewise, but I hated the light khaki colour so it had to go!

That’s a pretty cool way to cut the plastic (wife’s anger notwithstanding...). I’ve never seen that done - how well did it work?
Was like butter, super clean cut. Just used a file after to clean up. If I had a better torch, would have been quicker and easier. I use that method on my RC stuff so thought what the hell.

Didn't even make it 20min on the trail this past Saturday for my snow shakedown run/locker test, to find out my NEW Elocker wasn't working.

Spent the next day testing and removing it for warranty. Coil inside isn't energizing enough to hold the magnet engaged OR the tabs on stator are fckd. The box arrived looking like UPS dropped it 10 times. Eaton said they have had issues with their magnets and shipping damage. Said I will be impressed with the new boxes...how bout being impressed with a locker that actually works!

So now I wait 4 weeks for a new one and put stock carrier back in ...could have use my front locker in the below pic hahah

That's great teaching daughter to drive a stick. EXACT same reason I wanted my Rubicon to be a manual and got lucky and found one. Taught both my 15 and 17 year olds how to drive it. Fun times!
