Is it okay if the front and rear axles have gear ratios that don’t match?

I just swapped my dana 35 with a dana 44 and the 44 has a different gear ratio than the front dana 30, I just wanted to know if it was ok if I drove it so long as I didn't go into 4wd

I’m pretty sure as long as the TC’s in neutral, you’ OK.

The front DS will still turn, but only because it’s always connected to the front axles.

Just don’t put it in 4 wheel drive.

You can't drive the vehicle with the TC in neutral.

I would remove the front driveshaft

Oops, not neutral, your right, duh!

In standard 2 wheel drive mode is what I meant. The front DS is not connected to the drivetrain in 2 wheel high.

You will be fine.

NOOO! Do not drive it whatsoever unless you disconnect one of the driveshafts! We dont have manual locking hubs, so the front drivehshaft spins no matter what, even when in 2wd which will cause a bind and grenade if you have 2 different gear ratios.

If so then ill be damned When I was at a rear end shop i was told that would happen unless you pull either DS

The two halves of the t case don't talk to each other while in 2wd. That's why in the winter, I can tear around an empty parking lot doing donuts in the snow and still drive to work the next day.

If you gun it real hard with the front ratio higher than the rear you’ll stretch the frame and end up with a LJ/unlimited.
