Rough Country 4” lift questions

Yes I want to sway bar
Johnny joints? Not familiar but I’ll do some research. When you say JKS links are you taking about sway bar links? Disconnects?
Yes on the links they will fail within a year If they are the rough country ones with the right angle design.

John Currie developed the Johnny joint and basically what it gives you is an extremely strong connection and a wide range of movement without slop in a greaseable and rebuildable design- they fit most every application - your front upper control arm fittings at the axle, are a great place for them...although they are excellent at all connection.

In regards to the ride quality, having everything aligned goes a long way as well. I had to drive mine for two weeks after a lift install before I had time to get it aligned and getting everything tracking true down the road made a hell of a big difference.

My brother-in-law is a big motorhead and wanted to dabble in the TJ world but only kept it a few months because he hated how it drove. I thought it was great. Just food for thought

If this is your first time, no matter what you do, a Jeep will always drive like a Jeep.

It’s not my first and I’ve spent a lot of time in Jeeps so I knew what to expect. It’s just these damn shocks feel like solid connections!

Another question for you guys. Locally I’ve found a set of fairly new Zone shocks for a 4 inch lift for very cheap. Will this get me by till I can order some new ones? They’ve got to be better than those RC’s right?

In terms of low cost lift kits, RC is the best quality in my opinion.

Not that it matters since they are gone, but I’m not sure how much cheaper you want. Ranchos for around $50-60 seems like the way to go, especially on this forum. Price wise that is about as cheap as I would go, why buy a used shock at this point and take any risk of defect? I know different folks, different budgets, but spending $200 may change the game significantly. When I had that lift I was going to just swap shocks, but then saw other items that needed swapped so did it all.

I don’t mind spending 2 or 300 at all. I just found 4 brand new shocks basically down the street from me for 50 bucks. That’s never a bad thing. :)

Right on, if you have my luck I try to save money and it usually bites me in the a$$ even worse 😂

and they're the correct length that will put your UP/DOWN ratio around 50%?

Well they were. Till they sold. Who knows. Probably dodged a bullet. I did change the valve cover gasket and cleaned all the leaking oil residue off everything today. Man I’m worn out climbing up and down the damn thing! Maybe I should just go back to stock height! Nooot.

Would this be a the drop pitman arm? Why should I switch it back to stock if so?
