John Currie developed the Johnny joint and basically what it gives you is an extremely strong connection and a wide range of movement without slop in a greaseable and rebuildable design- they fit most every application - your front upper control arm fittings at the axle, are a great place for them...although they are excellent at all connection.
Yes on the links they will fail within a year If they are the rough country ones with the right angle design.Johnny joints? Not familiar but I’ll do some research. When you say JKS links are you taking about sway bar links? Disconnects?
