Hi All —

I'm looking for recommendations for roof rack/system that can handle a variety of needs, from loading a yakima style roofbox, to strapping lumber down, to overlanding accessories. Doesn't have to have all of those things out of the box, but would be great if it's modular enough to modify as needed.

I have an '04 Rubicon, with Hardtop.

Apprecaiate any tips/leads and what brands to stay clear of or lean to.

Try to check out Gobi and Rhino Rack.
thanks, just looked. Gobi is pri$$ey. Suppose it's a get what you pay for situation with that compared to Smitty SRC? Anything in particular you can share to help educate me on price difference?

I use this one, but I only use is when the hard top is off

I'm making one for my LJ - almost done, down to final welding and paint. The plan is for it to carry 2 kayaks or 1 kayak and one 44" Pelican-like box or 2 boxes.

I used the hardware that was supplied. I was amazed that it worked, I had bought a bunch of U-bolts and plates to try, but the stuff it shipped with worked great. Excuse the mess, I got caught in the rain...

If there is any possible way you can tow a trailer when you need extra space it is pretty close to a million times better than weight up high on a rack.
