I am trying to think ahead. I plan to buy and install a c.2.5" SL lift shortly and then (in combination with the 1" BL already fitted) move to 33" tyres. When I do this I think an upgrade of my brakes would be in order. My TJ is on the light side of many here, no A/C, no hard top, factory bumpers and no armour. Apart from the additional weight of the larger spare the only other additional weight will come from a Rugged Ridge Spartacus HD tyre carrier, a Tomken Machine winch plate and a Warn VR-Evo 8-S winch. I have no plans to tow anything with my TJ.

I am looking at the cost vs benefit of a few options. I guess the first question is what will need changing. My TJ has covered around 44,000 miles of what I suspect has been pretty gentle driving. I would therefore expect the pads will need to be changed soon anyway, but that the rotors should be in reasonable condition. However, if I change the pads now, but then need to change them again if and when the rotors need changing then maybe I should just bite the bullet now and change both.

The first three options are just for pads. You won't recognise the prices here, these are my estimated costs to my door in the UK including shipping and import taxes where applicable:
Option 1: Powerstop Z36 Extreme Performance Truck & Tow pads - c.$67
Option 2: EBC Yellowstuff pads - c.$124
Option 3: Black Magic pads - c.$263

The next three options are for new rotors and pads (again prices to my door including shipping and applicable taxes)
Option 4: Powerstop Front Z36 Extreme Performance Truck & Tow - c.$281
Option 5: EBC Ultimax rotor and Yellowstuff pads - c.$288
Option 6: Centric Rotors and Black Magic pads - c.$444

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Powerstop is crap, go with option 2.
