Good value brake upgrade suggestions?

IMHO abs is for those who are too lazy to learn how to or should not be driving on slippery roads.
I disagree. While I removed my previous TJ's ABS due to installing an axle that didn't support ABS, I realized I was losing something that might have been useful some day.

There are some conditions where not even an EXPERT EXPERT PRO EXPERT can brake as well in slick conditions as an ABS system can. I assure you that you can't outthink the ABS computer in a panic situation where the road is slick is pig snot. Some egos make some feel they can outbrake an ABS system but definitely not in all situations. Especially when it's a panic situation where if you can't do it perfectly you might just be running over someone or running into a car packed full with a family. I'm not willing to chance it, at least if I had a choice.

And how does that work in low range with lockers?

That depends. Earlier this week right after the big snow dump, I was driving around town locked up in 4h. Mostly I did it for fun and because I could. The streets were relatively empty of other vehicles. Some moves were easier. Others were (or would have been) flat out dangerous if I didn't also understand what I was doing.

Maybe. A good modern abs and traction control system is pretty impressive compared to what I am able to do on my dinosaur Jeep. Though people do have a tendency to throw caution to the wind and rely too heavily on the car to drive for them.
I couldn't agree more everyone really should learn how to drive without ABS if they have the opportunity to. But the Traction control and ABS systems in vehicles today are beyond impressive.

I agree. I had an incident driving my wife's car with my family inside, and the road conditions changed quickly. If it weren't for ABS, we would have crashed. This made a believer out of me.
