as many of you know I am getting my gears swapped and I was trying to get 4wp to do it, I made an appointment a WHILE ago and when I did I paid an $800 down payment, when I finally dropped it off with them they called saying I was missing some parts so I picked up my jeep and ordered the parts. somewhere in between I got the deal of a lifetime on a arb air locker on Craigslist, then I dropped my jeep with the parts at 4wp and they called a day later saying that they couldn't install used parts... what the heck! I would have not been mad if they told me that when I first called about adding the locker to the install, but to wait so long aghhhhhhrrhr... anyyyyyyway I then asked if they could refund my down payment and they said NO because they already checked out my jeep, (I guess that checking the parts I had counts as "checking it out") so I then called a local gear install place and they said that the COULD put my used locker in, SO. I called 4wp and a lady who I hadn't talked to before answered and when I canceled another appointment I had made, I asked her if I could get my downpayment back and she said SUREEEEE!
so I got my $800 back

moral of the story, don't go to 4wp, just don't.

Agreed on the just say no to 4WP. I thought we had recommended that you never purchase parts on your own to provide to a shop to install for you? That nearly always causes a problem either during or after the install whenever there's a problem that require more work.
im poor and everyone charges a LOT more to order them for you, at least around here

You would be surprised if you looked around how many people.. especially up your way toward the Appalachian mtns.. that can do it!.. I have always had better luck with a guy who has a shop at his house or his own shop that does work on the side… they aren’t near as expensive as “4wp” and they usually do a lot better job cause they work off references…

I've actually seen quite a few people posting requests for help or just questions that garner offers of help on some of the FB forums from people who live around or near the person. Mostly unaware of the outcomes but now and again you'll see good pics of the results.

I'm still waiting on a 4WP tire order from May :(

I don't have direct experience with 4WP but this is kinda close:

I live about 20 miles of where 4WDH (4 Wheel Drive Hardware) was for 40 years. They were great for Jeep parts when I had my CJ5 but even then I tried my best to find what they had cheaper because someone told me to go to the local bearing distributor and I ended up saving about 75% for the cost of front wheel bearings.

When I got back into Jeep ownership in 2018 I went to 4WDH and found out it was still open but moving closer to my house. This would have done away with their "Jamboree" (or whatever they called it) but it was closer. It seemed to be taking forever to happen and well over a year later the remodeling of their new location stopped dead and the original location was closed. For a while there was a sign there guiding any customer to go to 4WP either south of Cleveland or east of Pittsburgh. Drive 70 or 90 miles? No thanks. Being primarily in big cities I guess they sell parts to help crawl the malls.
