Grille inserts

no I'm not, I need to pull the radiator and find another way to secure the top, it's secured on the sides. I love the look and the screen but that's all you get and there is very little if anything to secure it on a 98 TJ. Later models its pinned between the radiator and grill.

its comes with no mounting hardware. its up to you to find some of mounting it.

once I get time to pull everything apart was to attach the screen to a 1 by 1 aluminum angle and figure a better way to mount the whole thing.

Agreed... does not affect a proper working coolant system. Zero issues here.

PO installed these on my rig and I want to take them off. Not having any issues with cooling, just prefer the classic iconic grill unmolested.

Are they clip in or double stick tape? Don't want to start pulling them only to break them or have to contend with a sticky mess of glue tape residue.

Clip in plastic tabs on both sides. Find the easiest one to get to from inside and push it out, with one out rest will go much easier

Mine have several inch long pieces of double sided tape around the perimeter.

There are 2 types the snap in ones and the tape fix type which are usually JK and up but there was a cross over! The snap in TJ type will scratch/chip your paint if you go at then like a "Bull at a gate" but if you are careful they will pop right off, You need to start at the top and snap off downward as the inserts are curved. I love my Chrome snap on grill inserts on rather than off but each to his /her/their/tree person /Androgynistic

PS those that profess the inserts cause overheating are delusional! they either have a non functioning cooling system or a blown head/head gasket and like to believe its the inserts lol!

I will find time to goof around with them.. not a big priority. Installing an exogate this weekend.

I want to use plastic expanded mesh installed behind the grill slots instead of the front mounted, which to me just look like... snap in front mounted plastic inserts. I agree though... everyone should mod their own mods.

If you have the snap on type just ease them off from the top as the clips are stupid tight!
JK owners curse the double sided tape ones big time! lol

Yep.. they were snap in. I was able to see the clips by peeking between the radiator and front frame, from under the Jeep. Used a hook tool to release the first clip and popped out the insert. From there it was easy to release the rest of them. There are some light scratches on the grill but it looks so much better without the plastic inserts.

Got the same ones a while back, and matching headlight surrounds.

As for airflow restriction that's why you have a fan. The only time there isn't an abundance of air hitting the front of the rad is at low speeds, in which case you could remove the entire front grill and it still wouldn't help, hence the fan sitting behind the rad.
