Hurricane Irma

Man, Texas and Florida! What's next?

Well, fortunately Jose is drunk on tequila. Don't forget, TX still struggling to get back on feet. I think it will literally take a couple of years. Houston is a BIG place and that's just the start. Home prices are going to skyrocket because the materials needed for new construction are going to drive up the cost. It's going to be interesting...

You forgot, the west coast is on fire.
Sheesh, the west coast is always on fire this time of year. But that's a whole 'nother discussion we could have. That west coast fire thing we pretty much did to ourselves through bunny hugger stupidity and politics.

I haven't forgot, nor have a lot of other people. The MSM may be focused on Irma at the moment, but there's a lot of other serious people out there that have attention spans longer than a mosquito. Hang in there, it'll work out.
Jose is drunk or making a turn to do a better aim at Florida. Lol I'd go with drunk lol
Yah, I like the drunk theory as well. Not as workable, but more entertaining. If Jose hits Florida, it's not going to take much of a storm to do serious damage.

We found that the national news was causing a near panic for our friends and family with their sensationalist reporting. The local news was giving us the play by play and information about our area, and "real" news. Just as an example, my in-laws called in panic begging us to leave because whatever they were watching was reporting that our entire county was under a mandatory evacuation. The problem was that the evacuation was only for Zone A (right on the coast), and we are in Zone X.

In other news, I spent nearly the entire day with the TJ loaded with recovery gear helping out neighbors. The chainsaw that I bought a few days ago with input from that post helped out a lot of people. I'm still a little intimidated and learning and got the blade caught a bunch of times, but swapped to my axe when it was super sketchy. Funny enough, I couldn't find a video showing a scenario with half a tree resting on the other side of a fence in two feet of water, entwined with vines and with branches caught up in two other palm trees, all while on a 45 degree muddy slope.

We lost power for about a day and half. Came back on at midnight, last night. Today I will be composing a poem about electricity, and how I miss it when it's gone. Maybe a slow rock love ballad, not sure.

I am still living in the dark ages no power. There is no ETA either. I have seen lots of power lines down in my area.

First thing I always think of when the power goes is the food in the fridge going bad... Haha.

My plan is to purchase this generator once I have the funds.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JZQUSAC/?tag=wranglerorg-20

I only want something to power a small window AC unit so we can keep one room in my house cooled down. However, I also want one that's portable so we can bring it with us if we ever need it, and also wanted to be able to charge small electronic devices so it has to be an inverter. I think the link above is the best that I can find.

I like that one, and the reviews seem on point!

I'm not familiar with generators at all (just getting into researching them), but this one looks promising. I'd like one for our house to be able to power the fridge, a small AC unit, and maybe other tiny things from time-to-time. However, those ones I have been looking at are all stationary generators.

I like that this one is mobile, and could be taken just about anywhere.

Are you trying to make me spend money? Haha

Generators are a must for piece of mind especially areas prone to hurricanes or like myself, live in a remote area well off state maintained road.
I bought a fairly inexpensive 3000 watt off Amazon that got outstanding reviews to run the wood boiler and few appliances.
Hope y'all get your power back on soon :)

They are only good if they work lol. I have a 5600 watt with 8600 peak but the damn thing doesn't run.

I am about to jump in my damn freezer. It is hot and humid as hell down here plus there is absolutely 0 wind blowing.
