Unless you are planning to drive it. The shocks do nothing when a vehicle is stationary
He should go for a drive without the shocks installed and report back on how much the springs control the ride quality.
You'll probably bust at least one of the shock bolts, which means you'll take a month to fix that problem so the Jeep won't have any rear shocks the whole time! Ask me how I know this...

It's part of a larger discussion that goes back many many years. And it's entirely up to you if you want to take advantage of this opportunity to learn a bit more about your suspension.

Gotcha, I looked before I posted and all I found was driving no shocks not Recommended, but nothing about just sitting for days no shocks
The springs simply don't care one way or another. But if you care about such things, you can find out more about what does what to control the ride.
