Will 5.13 gears be too aggressive for my setup?

After reading the gear swap thread i had decided to run with the 5:13's as I have 33's and will eventually go to 35's. i have a 2005 4.0L with the 42rle. I wont be wheeling a whole lot but want the better road manners as I do have plenty of grades on the highway and tired of the lugging feeling. I have the dana 30 and dana 35 diffs. I called Revolution Gear as i wanted to buy gears and the rear axles at the same time. The salesman was like 5:13's are way to aggressive you only need 410 or 456. So i would like to see if anyone has my set up with the gears i was looking at and the ones they spoke of to weigh in on manners on the highway as well as the trail thanks for any help

I have 5.13's with 35's and a 42RLE. Wish I could go deeper, but I have a Dana 30 up front. I would never go with less than 5.13 for 33's or 35's with the 4 speed auto.

Highway or off-road doesn't matter, deeper gears work better for both with the 42 RLE.

i stressed to him of the o/d ratio of being .69 and it being the an auto. I was thinking i was pretty close to right. I will just place my order over the internet. Only problem is part of their kits are on back order. mainly the bearings. smh

I’m just going to say ‘do it’ without reading what you have bc 99% of the time you’ll be fine with 513 gears.

Whatever shop will be doing the install should be ordering the gears so you'll be covered under warranty. If you supply the gears, and something happens, the shop will blame the gear manufacture, and the gear manufacture will blame the shop, leaving you to pay to have it all done again. Or at least you stand a good chance of that happening.

Here I have a 2003 4.0 with 42RLE. Dana 44 rear and Dana 30 front. Based on JerryB recommendation and when I finally heard 5.13 was available for my Dana 30, I went from 4.73 to 5.13 in Oct 2018.

I bought the stuff direct from Revolution and had a very good experienced jeep mechanic do the work.

At 70mph I am at 2600 rpm. I still disable overdrive for speeds under 45 or so.

I am very happy with the setup.

I have 4.88s with a 5 speed. They typically recommend a step lower if an auto. Also if revolution is out of stock Yukon makes a great product as well.

I'll blame the brain fart on those shots with beer chasers for breakfast.

:)
I bet it's your great homemade hot sauce WITH breakfast. I wish somebody sold stuff as hot as yours. I bought some "Bone Rattler" hot sauce that came in a skull container and it was sooooo mild compared to yours. 👍

Bragging about eating hot food is exactly the same as an alcoholic bragging about how many handles he can put away in a weekend.

You apparently don't set up gears.
I don’t. Is there something that’s so bad about them in your opinion? Mine seem to be working fine, Along with all the others my shop has installed, And plenty of people run Yukon. So I’m curious what is so bad about them.

How so? I was born with zero sense of smell (Congenital Anosmia) , so limited taste/texture is all I have for food. I don't have the luxury that people take for granted of thinking you can taste things like garlic. It's all smell related. Sweet, sour, bitter, salt is all I know. Alcohol just burns like mouthwash, no taste either.
