Lifter noise after oil change with Penzoil High Mileage

Interesting! Thanks! I was trying to go conventional and high mileage to prevent RMS leak. It is currently bone dry. My 03 started leaking with synthetic and when I switched to conventional high mileage on that one it stopped almost immediately!

Lifter noise after oil change with Penzoil High Mileage

In my '04 LJ - Previous owner had oil changed at 89500 miles at a Jeep Dealer and they used 10w30 Mopar with M-090 Mopar filter. Engine was perfectly quiet on cold start. I changed oil at 92500 with Penzoil High Mileage CONVENTIONAL 10w30 and Mopar M-090 filter. No noise after immediately...

    Softest load range d or e 285 75R16 tires

Bone Stock comparison: 91k mile '04 LJ with 15" wheels and 31x10.5 BFG KO2's Load Range C vs. 12k mile '04 TJ Rubicon with 16" wheels and ORIGINAL Goodyear M/TR's Load E - These two Jeeps ride nearly identical. Both of these Wranglers are BONE STOCK with absolutely no mods.

Are K02's still the go to tire?

Stuck with the KO2s - 31x10.5 Load range C on my LJ - $1000 for 5 mounted and balanced at Costco. Have them on my JL and like them, so stuck with them. Only took them 2 days to get them in.

Did Jeep ever weld exhaust nuts in place?

I WAS able to leave the exhaust together on my '03 to take the Oil Pan off and replace the gasket and pan. Previous owner had welded exhaust joints together, so it was essentially a 1-piece system. Unbolted at the cats/manifold, took of rear hanger and dropped/slid back as much as I could...

    Help Diagnosing Engine Knock

Agreed! Really appreciate those that take time to document. I hadn't yet gotten around to digging into mine other than the easy stuff. Timing chain was next, but after watching this thread decided to wait on doing anything to the '03 at this point. Currently has 158k on the odometer and has...

What did you do to your TJ today?

I know. Just bought it this year for my youngest who is starting to drive. Previous owner had put those on back in '05. Only put a few local miles on those old tires, no way I'd let her drive it until it had new rubber.

What did you do to your TJ today?

Oh yeah, while had it up on jackstands in garage decided to pull the rear upper shock bolts to never-seize them. 90k miles and all original. Came out without breaking any. So thankful this lifelong OHIO Jeep was very rarely driven in winter! Should be good now when time comes to lift it.

What did you do to your TJ today?

New BFG's to replace the 16 year old Cooper AT/R's!! Goes without saying, but WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

    Whistle noise when under load

My LJ does it too- noticed If you have a/c on and if you shut off while whining it goes away. Also moving throttle open or closed ever so slightly makes it disappear. Neither of my TJs do it.

    TJ vs JL

Your "connected to the road" comment was EXACTLY what my 16 year old new driver said after driving the '04 LJ that I got her and comparing it to our '18 JL. We all like any of the 3 TJ's we own better than the JL for around-town. Long trips- it has to be the JL for space and comfort.
