Recently had a evap code pop up and my oil sensor went out could this cause my jeep to suddenly die?
First time it died going from second to third. Second time it died when pulling into 7/11.

Fuel or spark...check fuel pressure. Got any noid lights?

Got anything to read live ODB data?

-Mac

Turns right back on after it dies. Which is puzzling me.
Negative on noid lights and OBD to read live data. I can buy a OBD scanner.
Going to park my jeep until I can figure out what’s the issue.
Now that I remember it died on me last week on the freeway going about 70 I was on high RPM in 5th gear and was thinking to myself did I go above the RPM the computer thinks it’s safe and shut the jeep down but it happened twice today so something is up.

Oil pressure sensor uses the same 5V reference & sensor ground as cam/crank/etc sensors. If there was an intermittent short there it could be causing it to die.

Sounds like your PCM might be on the way out.

Did you notice if the gauges go out when it dies?

05, 06 PCMs will drop out just driving down the road when they start going bad. Mine would restart itself if I was going fast enough with the MT.

@JKP if I remember correctly the gauges were good. just the spark disappeared. tried to restart but it wasn't firing, turned over all day but wouldn't catch. replaced the crank sensor and all good. still hard starts but have a bosch fuel pump in the mail to see if that fixes it. fuel lines aren't staying pressured, slowly leaking back into the tank...once its going it runs like a champ

My oil pressure drive unit was ticking when I opened the hood and listened to it running. I was having intermittent hiccups where it would die and restart half a second later. The OPDA was loose under the cap. It tells the cam position sensor when to time injectors and ignition. I think the OPDA being loose would confuse the PCM every once in a while or cause a problem with the 5V feed those sensors use…and it would hiccup or die then restart. Might wanna check as the OPDA on 05, 06 are suspect

Finally got my jeep back up and running again.
All the gauges go out when it dies. I coast to the side of the road and it will restart.
Just happening again on my test drive.
Cranks right up no problem. I’m driving minding my own business and it does.
I’m going to order a crank and throttle sensor.

@Wranglerfix what’s your take on this? What am I looking at if it’s my PCM? F

My daughter's '04 LJ automatic did this just the other day. Gauges all went to zero. Coasted to side of road & called me. I met her and it started immediately with no problems. Has not done it again. Thought about the PCM, but its an '04? Please keep us posted what you find! Good luck!
