Rear brakes getting hot after new pads and rotor

Hi all, just replaced my TJs rear disc brakes with new pads and rotors and I noticed even after break in I’m getting the burnt brake smell. After driving I checked caliper temperatures and they were both around 390F whereas the fronts were at 110F. I’m guessing that for some reason there is...

    Yukon Ball Joints Lower Zerk

Hi all, Picture attached but due to a shortage of spicer 709644x ball joints, went with the Yukon ones, but to my surprise the lower joint had a Zerk fitting…in a test fit with just sliding the axle in, it looks like it either just barely clears or just barely hits, so my question is do I...

Parking brake allows play in one wheel

Ok, initial search didn’t find this, but after replacing the parking brake equalizer bracket, and adjusting them, I noticed that the driver side wheel is locked tight with no movement when engaged, but passenger side is allowing just a little movement back and forth of the wheel before stopping...

    Fuel pump sending unit question

Hi all, hoping I can get help…checked a few of the suggested threads but not all so apologize if missed this… Replaced fuel tank with a genright unit, but in pulling the sending unit, in the bottom of the old tank was a rectangular what looked like filter material, but it doesn’t actually seem...

Unit bearing replacement with 16 inch big brake kit

Hi all, don’t believe all parts of this have been discussed, but redirect if I missed something in my search. Took jeep in for alignment with Firestone and they suggested new unit bearings…which is very early. Took it home, raised it and tested, and a lot of play in the drivers side but none...

What are the benefits of manual locking hubs?

So I had another thought on the usefulness of the hub lockers…with the atlas 4 speed, I can’t flat tow without disconnecting the drive shafts, which isn’t hard, but with the locking hubs I should be able to leave the front shaft connnected, saving time and I also think just wear and tear on the...

What are the benefits of manual locking hubs?

Plus, I’m not a hard driver, but every now and then I might be prone to doing something stupid….

What are the benefits of manual locking hubs?

Yep, sounds like not worth it especially for the cost! Think I’ll just find a bit more room to carry a spare unit bearing and outer shaft…if anything breaks upstream of those, just disconnect/remove problem and live with 2wd… Thanks!

What are the benefits of manual locking hubs?

Then not sure they are really worth it to me…love the idea of a weak point in a system (electrical engineer in me) to protect the more delicate and costly/complex components to replace.

What are the benefits of manual locking hubs?

I’m looking at getting the Yukon locking hubs for my TJ, my primary reason would be for the ‘fuse’ component…would love to have that as the most likely (no guarantees) failure point in the event of a high stress load. Read this thread, but hoping more people might chime in and comment if the...

Will a Bad O2 Sensor Always Throw a Code?

Yes, great point! Driving in 4th only shows you the difference at high end, not acceleration and starting from a stop…so agree. Since I drive mine almost as a daily driver spring - fall (criteria, warmer than 25 morning, 55 afternoon, less than 40% chance of rain), I see a lot of flat highway...

Will a Bad O2 Sensor Always Throw a Code?

The ratio of 4th to 5th is similar (although far from exact) to the ratio of 4.88 to 4.10s, so driving in fourth is like driving in 5th for 4.10s. For me I think the ideal is 4.56. Now I do have the atlas 4 speed, so wheeling I have an incredible selection of ratios with a doubly low around a...

Will a Bad O2 Sensor Always Throw a Code?

Just a note…I’m the black sheep of the forum as everyone tells me everything I’ve done is wrong, yet the Jeep drives well to me (and as a former Jeep engineer said…it drives better than he expected 🤣🤣🤣)
