    2000 RPM only when moving

I don't think it is normal. As you down-shift, the higher revs tries to increase the speed, so it is somewhat unsafe. I replaced the clockspring, and no real difference. I checked for vacuum leaks (I am not expert) and couldn't find anything. I am thinking I might need to take it to a...

    2000 RPM only when moving

I have an unusual (I think) issue. My manual transmission 1997 Jeep TJ 4-banger over revs (around 2,000 rpm), but ONLY while the car is moving. Once the wheels stop (or speed drops below 5 mph), the revs drop to the correct ~850 rpm. As long as the car is in motion, the engine stays at 2,000...

    What the <bleep> is this?

Found this "wire" hanging in my 1997 Heep TJ jeep (2.5L Manual) today. It is next to the frond bulkhead, and comes up by the battery. It goes into the frame at the front, and I can't find it coming out anywhere else. Anyone have any idea?

MAP sensor connector is different than MAP sensor

I am replacing my MAP sensor on my 1997 TJ (2.5L Manual). I purchased a new sensor online, and it was delivered today. However, I noticed that the connector on the new sensor is different to the one in my Jeep. I went online to look at others, and they all seem to be the same. The part looks...

Fuel gauge fluctuations after changing ecm

So, anyone know the solution here (to this thread)? I just bough a new ECM, and when it is connected, the fuel gauge goes from empty, to full, and back to empty, then stays on empty (even with a fuel tank). If I put the old ECM back in, the gauge works fine. Any ideas?

"O2 monitor" flashing on OBDII scanner, but no error codes

I am pretty handy mechanical-wise. My thinking on the PCM is that the PCM is not processing the O2 signals correctly, or the wiring between the PCM and O2 sensors is defective. i am more inclined to go for the PCM, as wiring rarely goes wrong unless it is damaged (which I don't see any)...

Any ideas??? Need some help/pointers here.. should I replace the PCM?

"O2 monitor" flashing on OBDII scanner, but no error codes

I have no Check Engine Lights - it's just the OBD2 scanner telling me they aren't ready (by flashing).

"O2 monitor" flashing on OBDII scanner, but no error codes

OK - replaced both sensors on my 1997 2.5L TJ with the NGK sensors, drove it nearly every day for 2 weeks but still have the "O2" monitor flashing on my OBD2 reader. What next? PCM? Check wiring? Does anyone have a wiring diagram?

The Official Jeep Wrangler TJ Oxygen (O2) Sensor Thread

Just confirming (thanks to this great thread!) - the sensors for my 1997 TJ 4 cylinder are NGK 23099 (downstream) and NGK 23506 (upstream)?? Also, I don't see any pictures of where the 2 sensors are on my Jeep - did I miss them, or are they not here? Finally, my car is not throwing any error...
