Electric TJ?

I need to be able to go at least 500 miles per day pulling a trailer. When that happens I may be interested. However, the mining and processing of lithium is extremely harmful to the environment, especially water and water supply, so I wish the world would stop going down the electric foray under the guise of environmental concern at the expense of people's lives. I'm sure it will work toward actually killing a lot of people. That's what the elitists want to do; kill you.

There are too many of us. 😉

500 mi/day in a TJ is probably way above average for most. And I think that sort of range (especially pulling a trailer) is out with current battery technology. The environmental and political issues are valid and concerning but not really my point. Rather, is an all electric TJ conversion technically feasible. The tech is well is well on its way for road cars. Putting range and social conflicts aside, it is interesting to me to consider that electric motors could possibly make a small, straight axle 4x4 more capable off road and ultimately be easier to build.

I believe some EVs actually place individual motors at each wheel. That's what makes me think one per axle is possible (but I can't give you dimensions or power output specs). If it WAS possible, I envision being able to buy an aftermarket axle/motor combo. Then you'd delete your whole drivetrain, bolt up the new units, mount your modular batteries, a few wires, a little software and BAM, you're done. Right?🤣 In all seriousness, if that became available, I think a lot of folks on this forum would be more than capable of doing it.
I can see the mall crawlers putting a snorkel on each axle :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I know the political and environmental aspects are not your concern. I brought them up. They were mine.

As far as the possible technological capabilities, what you're describing would be interesting. I think the Chinese make some electric Jeeps that look like they stole the design from TJ's. I don't know how they set up the motors.

If I can't get 500 miles a day then there are a lot of places I will never be able to wheel because it will take too many days to get there.

Then volunteer to sacrifice yourself for humanity. 😉
Quit having so many kids. ;)

Regardless, one way or another and despite our best efforts and short of a natural disaster, we will be our own demise.

Look guys, someone who knows the future.

I hope you built your time machine as well as you built your Jeep.

Netgain Hyper9...16 inches long...super easy to make a bracket. $4600 including a controller. 130 HP/172 ft/lbs torque. 120 lbs.

Output shaft to a yoke...mount one for the rear driveshaft...one for the front.

Used batteries...stack em in depending on how much range you want...or add a small diesel generator.

Cheaper to get two motors than an Atlas and one motor. That and 260 hp and 340 torque. What's not to love.

No transmission or transfer case needed.

What's the water rating on these electric motors? Will they handle being submerged for periods of time? Asking for a friend.

I'm guessing no better than an e-locker (or a 4.0L for that matter). A sealed case would be required in the proposed location, I think.

only one thing is better than a snorkel - 2 snorkels !
