What is this and why would it be ticking loudly?

Solenoid Purge Valve and that generally means it is dead and needs replacement.

Hey mrblaine what do you make of this rattle / knocking sound? It’s up front under the hood but sounds low. I can’t tell if something is loose or wrong in the bell housing.

Actually I never replaced it.
It stopped ticking so I left it alone.
